Services
Rideau - St. Lawrence Veterinary Services is comprised of a team of large animal veterinarians with fully equipped mobile units which can provide complete on farm services. We provide 24 hour emergency service to our clientele. Our team of equine and bovine veterinarians diagnose and treat patients on farm using the latest equipment available.
As a community-based business, we are committed to contributing to the health and welfare of the communities in which we live and work. High school co-op programs - throughout the school year including high skills major placements through the summer months. Veterinary externship programs - from the Ontario Veterinary College and several international programs.
We are proud to offer digital radiology which provides an unlimited number of high quality images within seconds to patients of all species. Our veterinarians are able to deliver radiographic interpretations and readings. We are also able to send radiographs to a radiology specialist for interpretation in any complicated situations.
We provide a wide range of on-farm surgical services to all species including, but not limited to, caesarian section, displaced abomasum, routine castration, mass removal and wound repair. More complex surgical procedures are referred to Prescott Animal Hospital Large Animal Surgery & Medical Referral Centre.
If you have an emergency during office hours, please call our office at 613-925-4200 or 613-258- 2777 to speak to our dispatch and have a veterinarian sent out to you as soon as possible. If we have more than one emergency, we will triage in order of urgency to ensure that the most critical cases are addressed first.

After having “done” horses all my life I somehow ended up with two pregnant mini mares in very poor condition. We lost one foal and a mare due to the poor condition of the mare. Dr. Welsford has been along for… the ride since the beginning. Never giving up, researching and always encouraging, up to the challenge and never giving up as we have gone along. I can not tell you how priceless his knowledge and willingness to try learn and try things is. I cannot say enough good things about him as well as the office staff. Huge kudos to Dr. Donovan! While here for my horse's wellness checks, my pup got herself in a potentially deadly situation. Great service and care. We all know the challenges associated with a practice involving emergencies, calls that take longer than planned and all the other legitimate delays associated with Veterinary Medicine. Despite all this Dr. Ben Henderson is usually punctual, always pleasant and ever willing to answer questions. Ben makes me feel like I am… as important a client as my horse! The only time he was delayed was due to an emergency and completely understandable. However the clinic still kept me in the loop about his progress. When my horse had an emergency of his own, Ben was there very
