Our visitations will continue to take place by scheduled appointments and every guest will continue to be logged and screened upon entry. Outdoor services will be permitted to allow as many guests as they wish while still adhering to the social distancing guidelines but may also restrict the numbers of guests allowed at each service.

These rules apply to every funeral home and cemetery in Ontario. We will continue to monitor any changes put in place by the BAO and the Huron-Perth Health Unit. The BAO has also made it mandatory for all staff and attendees to wear a mask or face covering while inside the funeral home or service venue.

McBurney Funeral Home located just one block west of the main street in a beautiful century-old white brick house, which was initially built as a private residence by well-known Wingham pioneer, Fred Johnson in 1901. In the early 1950s, the former residence was converted into a funeral establishment run by three generations of Walker family members.
This section contains useful information about what to do when death occurs and frequently asked questions. Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
No matter if a death is sudden, or if it something that was a long time coming, the loss of a loved one makes us feel emotional and overwhelmed. No amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the loss of a loved one. When you are in a heightened emotional state, even the most basic decisions can seem staggering.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation, followed by a funeral service in a church, or other place of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not. You have the option of having the remains interred (earth burial), or it may be entombed in a crypt inside a mausoleum (above ground burial).
