Services
The Smithers Art Gallery is located on the traditional territory of the Witsuwit'en (Wet'suwet'en). The Gallery is a non-profit organization and the only professionally curated art gallery between Prince George and Terrace. We can be traced back to a group of local artists in 1971 called "The Smithers Art Circle", formed with the original intention to acquire instructors to teach workshops.
Memberships are a vital way of supporting the Gallery, helping it to remain the preeminent visual arts facility in the Bulkley Valley. The Gallery is almost entirely operated by volunteers and run on grants and donations from the public. Your membership fees go directly to fund exhibitions, workshops, community art events, kids' programs, and to building a vibrant arts culture and community in Smithers, BC.
It is always with great eagerness and anticipation that I work towards a new show. This body of work further expands my exploration of colour and its relationship to an emotional response to the landscape. There are represented here a range of interpretations but all with an emphasis on manipulating and exaggerating colour to develop a successful composition.
The Gallery Shop offers a variety of handcrafted local and regional products. The range of items we carry includes cards, pottery, jewelry, prints, original pieces, tea and coffee, leather goods, soaps, woven baskets, books, scarves, and children's goods. Our product collection is a unique combination of artisanal items and artist works that creates a well-rounded assortment of goods.
In this Art Club, your child can let their imagination run wild as they experiment with a variety of techniques & mediums. They will discover the joys of the artistic process & developing artwork they will take pride in. As Pablo Picasso said "every child is an artist." Due to social distancing regulations, we are only able to accept 5 kids per workshop.
