My father, Ernst Schwarz, and my two uncles mastered the bricklaying trade in Germany and Canada in the late 1950's / early 1960's. My name is Richard Schwarz, and in 1985 I began my masonry career in the family business. I am honoured to continue the European craftsmanship passed down through two generations.

We had 2 chimneys fixed and we could not be happier. One was completely rebuilt from the ground up and the other from the roof up. Excellent workmanship. The price was right on the quoted price. The bricks were a near-perfect match, which is very difficult to do in an older home. The crew was professional and polite, if I ever need more brickwork I would definitely call them again.
I had E&R Schwarz Masonry Ltd. tackle the job of extensive repointing and brick replacement (reclaimed brick) on my century home. Richard Schwarz is very knowledgeable, providing explanations, suggestions and advice which helped tremendously in our decision making and planning. I found their work to be very good; the team was thorough, efficient and their clean up afterward was quite acceptable.
I would highly recommend completing a chimney rebuild down to the roofline even if there is no obvious damage noticed. Often there is hidden damage inside the brick such as cracks and decay.
For example, if your brickwork is 25 years old and you choose to repair only the top half of the chimney above the roofline, the untouched bottom half above the roofline will continue to deteriorate and is likely going to need repair much sooner than the new top half.
