The main purpose of a topographic survey is to collect survey data about both the natural and man-made features of the land, as well as its elevations. It is a detailed and accurate two-dimensional representation of the three-dimensional world. There are multiple features involved in marking the physical attributes of the land in the topographic survey.
It is always difficult when it comes to keeping up with the latest technology, but at Dearden and Stanton Limited we are focused on staying current with the latest in Global Positioning System (GPS) instrumentation, Total Station and electronic data recording devices and computer generated plans. Be very weary of doing business with this company. My whole experience was a nightmare.
I purchased a boundary & topographic survey in order to stake the property line and provide for accurate grading along it (and to clearly identify it for a municipal inspection). After discussing this with the estimator I got a quote for ~$4500 (2.6 acre property). Additional stakes were to be added along the property line for easy identification. Survey was performed and produced but no stakes were placed along the property line, only at each corner. As they are 700ft apart and up a mountain it's impossible
