Stratford Children's Services came into being 30 years ago. At that time ADHD was considered to be the greatest challenge facing parents and youth. Autism was not on the radar. The DSM 11 was just published. Bipolar in children was not considered. There was no complex multiple needs.
Instead parents were forced to relinquish custody of their child not because of a protection concern but due to behaviour that required intensive treatment and no supports as in home support was unheard of.Flash forward to today. An estimated one in every 66 Canadian children and youth aged five to 17 has autism spectrum disorder( Public Health Agency of Canada 2015 published 2018 ).

Great place! I've had the pleasure to work with amazing children and co workers over the 20 plus years I've been with SCS. Everyday I wake up it's like winning the lotto! I get a chance to help guide the youth of tommorow down a proper path. The most rewarding part of being with SCS is hearing from former children you have helped along the way!
