Services
Dr. Philip Balcaen is a Naturopathic Doctor. He is the founder, owner and principal Naturopathic Doctor at Sardis Naturopathic Medical Clinic, since its inception in 2000. He is an alumnus of the University of Waterloo Health Sciences Program, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in 1994, before proceeding to to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine.
The philosophy behind Naturopathic medicine is to treat the person, not the disease. Naturopathic Doctors focus on identifying the root causes of symptoms and addressing health concerns using natural therapies. We can help treat both chronic and acute conditions by creating a personalized plan for each patient's unique needs.
The first step in our process is to identify the cause of your health concerns. As part of your initial 90-minute consultation, we will give you a Core Evaluation, which includes: a health assessment, a review of your body's systems, the creation of a personalized plan, and setting personal health goals.
IV therapeutics utilize the benefit of direct intravenous access to administer vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and chelating agents to remove heavy metals. The benefits are quite clear compared to oral medications and supplements with the abilllity to rapidly and efficiently deliver the therapy for a greater therapeutic effect.

This office changed my life! The staff are so understanding, kind, and helpful. I always feel so welcomed and cared for by the staff and Dr. Balcaen. I originally saw Dr. Svendsen who has since moved cities, and now see Dr. Balcaen. I came in with problems that were overtaking my life. I didn't sleep, my mental health was deteriorating, and the pain I had due to my illness was getting worse. I was told by multiple urologists I would be on medication for the rest of my life and that I had to try 12 different ones to find which one works! Since coming in, I do not experience any symptoms anymore

Dr. Balcaen shows a sincere, true interest in helping his patients. He is a kind soul and doesn't just rush you out the door like many other doctors I've seen. He provides thorough explanations of health related matters which I really appreciated. It's much easier to stay on a healthy lifestyle plan when you know exactly why you are doing it. Highly recommend!!

When my wife and I got married she struggled with her health. I vowed to stop at nothing to find out what was wrong with her. Fast forward 15 years and her health was so bad that she could only get out of bed for a couple of hours a day. At this point we had spent upwards of $100,000 on treatments and specialists in Canada and the US.
After spending some time with Dr. Balkan he recommended sending some blood down to the US for testing. She ended up testing positive for Chronic Lyme disease. Three years later with the help of another clinic in the US and a very patient and knowledgable Dr. Balken

Was told the wrong price on the phone and was asked for over twice as much after my appointment. When Dr Jones examined my old injury, he poked at it and moved it around so much I felt physically ill and almost fainted in the office, and for the next 3 days I was in horrible pain. Worst experience ever!
