Clay and Carol Benson opened their first antiques shop in Newcastle, Ontario in 1968. In 1971 C. Benson Antiques moved to Port Hope, Ontario and sold to dealers, collectors and museums from our home. During this time we travelled and bought extensively throughout Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime provinces.

Over the last 25 years we have been involved in sourcing, dismantling, relocation and supplying to the trade many historic Ontario and Quebec log houses. Our interest and passion in this field is constantly increasing. We have had several houses available and sold but have newly discovered houses for sale this year.

You can't seem to buy anything in this place, no matter how hard you try! I've visited countless times, and almost always find something I like. However, when I have asked the sales person how much an item costs, on numerous occasions they have stated that the owner is away and they cannot reach him. They have no authority to name a price, and so, they take your name and number and say they will call you back. Except, they either 1) never call you, 2) call you and say they are still determining the price or 3) say the item is no longer for sale. This place is FULL of items not marked with prices

The service was beyond atroucious. Walked in with my wife and two small ones. The lady was behind her desk on the computer the whole time. She did not look up or even acknowledge us. We were the only ones in the store and got this vibe that we were not welcomed. We left shortly after going to a different antique store.
