Actinium Engineering is an acoustical engineering group based just north of Toronto in Ontario, Canada that provides services to both public and private sector clients. We are a holder of a Certificate of Authorization issued by the PEO and employ licensed Professional Engineers (P.Eng.). Our engineers have over a decade of experience in acoustical consulting along with hands-on experience in construction and live sound reinforcement.

We have been involved with hundreds of projects including residential developments (low, medium and high density), commercial developments, industrial approvals, rail yard expansion, development of secondary plans, noise complaint investigations, construction noise and vibration monitoring and mitigation, power generation (wind turbines, cogeneration, turbine and reciprocating engines) and EASR applications.
Services
Whether you are a developer working on your latest multi-unit building or a condo board wanting to ensure that the acoustical requirements of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) are met before registration we can help. In new construction or conversion projects, we work with the project team from the early stages to outline the desired noise and vibration objectives (OBC, Tarion and beyond) and the required construction to achieve those goals.
We can provide noise and vibration assessments addressing the impact of road, rail and air traffic as well as commercial and industrial noise sources on noise-sensitive developments. Measurements and/or computer modelling are used to predict sound levels and design mitigation to comply with the required guidelines.
As larger projects are being installed on smaller sites, the noise and vibration produced by construction projects is starting to receive more attention from builders, municipalities and neighbours. We can help you establish pre-construction levels, as well as predict and/or monitor levels during construction.
Most standby power generators require either an Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) or Environmental Activity Sector Registry (EASR) application to show compliance with Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) guidelines. The EASR is faster, simpler and cheaper but there are some restrictions around when it can be used.
Municipalities are not bound to the guidelines prepared by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC). We can help you adapt the MOECC guidelines to suit your specific requirements or help you create your own. The most common application of special guidelines or protocols is for atypical noise sources such as concert venues or racetracks.
