S.M.A. Karate CANADA was established in 1998 and is owned and operated by Shihan Robert Patry. The Kingston location is the Honbu (headquarters) for S.M.A. Karate CANADA. S.M.A. Karate CANADA is a traditional martial art school offering three different but complementary systems of Karate. We offer students the possibility to participate in one or many or our training, teaching, competitive or coaching streams.

S.M.A. Karate CANADA and all students are registered with the Ontario Karate Federation (OKF). We are dedicated to provide excellent martial arts training and to foster lasting growth with our students, families and communities of S.M.A. Karate CANADA. Martial Art Programs Report

S.M.A. Karate CANADA offers three different systems of martial arts - Shotokan, Gj-ry, and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Shotokan and Gj-ry styles of karate are of Japanese origin and are two of the most recognized styles of Karate worldwide. Wing Chun Kung Fu is a Chinese boxing system that is widely known because of Bruce Lee.

No question SMA is the best dojo in Kingston. My son and I both take lessons there and love it. Shihan Rob Patry and the whole team of instructors are knowledgeable and patient, strict and demanding when they need to be, but not overcompensating shouters trying to seem tough. A great community too. SMA has first-class karate and wing chun lessons for kids and adults at reasonable rates.

S.M.A Karate is a great place to train for all ages. Instructors are very knowledgeable with many years of experience and make you feel like part of a family. Whether you are a beginner or advanced martial artist, I highly recommend giving them a try. You will be thankful you did!

Best Martial Arts school in town. Instructors are knowledgeable, and well skilled in their arts. Great family oriented community. Lots of opportunity to travel, train and compete with other martial artists from all over the world. The fitness studio is pretty great too.

I joined SMA karate after almost 20 years away from Karate, and it has been a great experience. Shihan Rob Patry is very friendly and supportive of his students, helping everyone learn at their own pace. If you want to get in shape and learn some martial arts at the same time, this is the place for you!

SMA Dojo is is a verry strict karate dojo. This is what one should consider when joining their children. My sun has a LOT of energy. So much he found this dojo boring and was scolded often. This does not mean it is a bad place to enroll in. The teacher's were great but a kid with more energy may have trouble in the class.
