Dr. Dan grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where he attended the University of Toronto, graduating in 2007. He did his general practice residency in Edmonton at the University of Alberta, and has been here ever since. He and his wife, Angel, opened SmileSense in May of 2009, and Dan split his time between Sherwood Park and Fort McMurray for 5 years, after which he decided to stay full-time in Sherwood Park.

Dr. Dan and his team saved my husband's life and I can't express enough gratitude to them. After years of avoiding the dentist due to multiple bad previous dentist experiences, his absess was life threatening and Dr. Dan was able to get all his major work done in 1 appointment under anesthesia. His kindness and compassion for his patients is truly amazing, from easing his anxiety before and during the procedure to following up with us every day after the surgery until his recovery. I've been going to SmileSense for about 7 years now. I chose them initially because they offer nitrous oxide sedation - I have gagging issues and having the sedation is essential for me. I have stayed with them because the service and care are incredible. Dr. Dan always communicates clearly what needs to be done. I’ve never been a fan of going to the dentist. I had a dentist appointment at a different clinic and had fillings done, approximately a week after my feelings I started to have severe pain in that area which brought me to the dentist several times with no relief. I was told about smile sense from a friend and said Dr. Dan was the best and I wouldn’t be disappointed. I seen him and unfortunately my teeth needed to be pulled as I said above I am not a fan of the dentist but was happy to hear that sedation was some thing that was offered, I had my teeth pulled and the healing begin. I just had two root canals done with temporary crowns(permanent crowns to follow) at Smile Sense in Sherwood Park by Dr. Dan. What a great dentist. I was in the chair for just over two hours. Never felt any pain at all. The freezing is out now and the pain killer he gave me at 9 this morning has worn off. Still no pain. My son and Daughter-in-law recommended Dr. Dan. I am so glad. The ladies are so nice and patient. This will now be my dentist and I am looking forward to going to him for all my dental needs. I am highly recommending this business to anyone looking for a dentist. Thank you Dr. Dan

Shannon is always so friendly, I almost forget that I’m at Smile Sense to get my teeth cleaned. She is gentle and thorough and my teeth always feel amazing after seeing her. Dr. Dan is personable and ensures my teeth are healthy and cared for. The crown he put in almost 10 years ago is in perfect condition and still feels like my natural tooth. I visited SmileSense because I have major dental anxiety. The receptionists were super friendly and nice. The dental assistant was AWESOME! She explained everything perfectly and made me feel so much better. Dr. Dan was Excellent. He explained exactly what would happen and made me feel calmer. Even the person who did my sedation explained everything to me and relaxed me. SmileSense is a really great office. Im going to book my kids here for their next apointments as well. 10/10!

In the past I have had some pretty horrible experiences at the dentist, with that said it has been 11 years or more since I last saw a dentist. I was extremely nervous and pretty scared to be honest. The staff and Dr. Dan had me at ease and laughing within a few minutes of walking in the front door. They are extremely kind, caring and understanding. Amazing staff, very accommodating. I haven’t been to the dentist in far to long and this team was extremely understanding, and non-judgemental. Everyone made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and did consistent checks in while work was being done from pain level to making sure I could see the TV(awesome touch, you have Netflix at your finger tips with headphone options to fill out the noise). Extremely clean facility, felt very safe. Everyone was very kind and I’m extremely happy with the results!! Could not recommend enough!!

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Dan and his staff. I am a very anxious patient and had to have a crown put in. I had seen another Dr who had told me that I would need 3 separate visits to fix my issue. I went in to this office based on a referral from a friend after not being happy about the initial visit I had with the other dentist… and thankfully, had a better solution that only took 1 visit and not as costly. Everyone in the office was compassionate and understanding of my anxieties and did everything they could to put me at ease. Thanks for being so good with my mental self

Dr Dan, Hygienist Shannon, and all the staff here are wonderful!! I feel known and cared for and appreciated. I am given options and never feel like they are just trying to make money off of me. They are great with my kids, especially my very nervous son. They are gentle - my mouth never hurts after an appointment like it does other places. Best dental office I have been to.
