Response time may vary as we are in peak season with a very small staff. Email is the fastest way to reach us quickly, as we have remote staff supporting the 1 person in the office. Since its inception in 1991, the Park has always been rooted in a commitment to outdoor education and helping people to experience nature.

I don't believe the website clearly indicates what to expect, but they don't promise much I suppose, either. I giving 3 stars because the staff was very nice. The sites were ok. We went the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving.
I camped by the electric sites. These sites are pretty small. We didn't have enough room for our 10x10 canopy, so we didn't use it. These sites backed on to the main road. It was litterally some hedges and then the road.
The washrooms were not so bad. They were like plane toilets, but they were very clean!
The eco showers were acceptable. The water was really warm, and it

We traveled to Manitoulin Island specifically to take advantage of the dark sky preserve at the Eco park. Gord's Ecopark itself is nice and the staff seem to be a family and very friendly. The park is secluded when you got deeper in but we chose a site with electricity and unfortunately it was a site very close to main road so we could hear and cars. Motorcycles and trucks zipping past all night and day. The campsite (number 2) has a bench, a small table and the firepit there is also good tree coverage between the neighboring sites. Bathrooms are shower are a little 'ew', but I have experienced

We’re just leaving and we’ve been here for six nights (2 grownups and a 6 year old). As other reviewers have said, the facilities are rustic, and I know this aesthetic is not for everyone. However everything is kept immaculately clean and there is a fun, funky, creative look and vibe to the shared spaces. We typically camp in provincial campgrounds because we like the space, privacy, and nature. Here, you get that experience with additional features like an off grid, low light environment and a communal outdoor kitchen and washing up space. If you’re used to the generic family campground

Beautiful private campground under new ownership as of 2021. We stayed at spot 36 which they mentioned was a new site. The view during the day was great over the green space and pond, and at night it is absolutely stunning due to the dark sky preserve.
If you are passing through, or planning to stay for a while, this is a great campground with very friendly staff who have forged an oasis on Manitoulin Island.

If you're looking for an authentic camping experience, this is the place for you! I am reading a lot of poor reviews saying facilities were terrible and the office didn't sell supplies and the trails were creepy etc.... well this is not a hotel people, nor is it a provincial park.
The forest site we stayed on was perfect. Plenty of privacy for us. Had a picnic table and a cook stand/table. The outhouses were of course smelly but I haven't met an outhouse that wasn't. The showers were rustic but we fully enjoyed that! Because we came to camp. There was something primitive about the shower cord

We spent 2 nights in Camp Cabins and booked for dark sky preserve.
Pros- Staff were friendly. 2 stars were given for them
Cons-
- Paid for two bundles of fire woods which did not work. Ended up leaving them unused.
-The cabins were not cleaned and shabby, bugs and spiderweb, spiders everywhere
- No professional from astronomy community was there as they advertised, too pricey
Advice: Need to be little transparent with the customers and pricing should be checked.

We stayed at a campsite supposingly in front of a pond/lake. It’s actually just a huge puddle of water with tons of mosquitoes and bugs. The outhouses were absolutely horrible. No one maintained them. No water to wash hands. Even hiking trails had portable washrooms with hand washing stations. Those were much cleaner even though so many hikers used them thru out the day. The website claimed to have free wifi on site. It’s actually just around the main office / front gate area. It also said to have a pool but when we were there, it was closed to private / owner use only. There were only 2 shower

Camped there in July 2021. If you are looking for a “rough” camping experience in Manitoulin Island, then you can there. The camp spot in the general camping area is worse than the dark night area. The ground was full of gravel and setting the tent was super challenging! The bathrooms are horrible except for one clean bathroom by the camp main office which I believe is mainly for staff but it was just impossible for ya to use the ones by the camp sites and had to wait until the whole family can go to office washrooms. Make sure to take bug and mosquito sprays. They are awful there! The star

As far as a private campground goes, this one is beautiful. Definitely worth a visit when you're on the island. Even if you're only able to come for one of their events, it's still worth stopping by. If you're staying over and want a treat, head around the corner to Garden Gate. Also the Manitou river and lake are just 10-15 minutes away and are a perfect little spot for swimming. But the Eco Park has a few nice trails and lots of space to explore plus fun things for the kids to climb.
I'm excited to see what the new owners do and can appreciate that this is a first summer for them. That being

We were extremely disappointed in our experience here. The junky entrance to the park and outside the office leaves a horrible first impression. There are a few port a potties throughout the grounds but no water near them to wash up afterwards...which to me, forces me to drive to the washrooms by the office
. Not very Eco friendly is it?
The campfire wood is a joke. Each bundle is half filled with kindling. The kindling in 1 bundle would have served for the 4 days we were there.
The campsite itself hadn't really been cleaned upon our arrival. There were pistachio shells scattered around and

Originally I rented a Tippi online but I got a call next day saying that it is not available. I settled for what was offered in this case it was a milky way bunkie. Upon arrival to the bunkie there were dead flies all over the room and still few flies buzzing. Room was very humid to the point it was hard to breathe. We phoned the receptionist that we cannot stay here. Without any question or convincing receptionist agreed to move us to a trailer. We agreed as having to come from a long road trip all we wanted to do was sleep. There was aurora weekend so we had already paid extra for the weekend

Stayed at the dark sky preserve for 3 nights and 4 days over Canada day long weekend.
After 2 nights without much view of the stars, we were told that the sky is the clearest around 1-3am to see the stars. So we set an alarm on our last night to wake up at 2am and saw the sky was filled with stars - absolutely beautiful!
Dark sky preserve has several spots you can pitch your tent. Each spot comes with a cooking table (where you can place your portable stove or grill) and a picnic bench. No campfire allowed at all times. No white lights allowed after dark.
There's summer kitchen equipped

Have enjoyed going on over to their late night astronomy programs. They do a really good job a showing us the layouts and arrangements of the various star systems and galaxies near our side of the earth north of the equator. They are very friendly and helpful as well. They do s good job of running the campground and nature and hiking trails as well By The Way. :) Dave Lepkowski
