L Merritt Support Centre
This centre offers a drop-in community setting for adults with a lived experience and is funded via a service purchase agreement with the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (RHA). During the early years of operation, it was evident that an employment piece was needed. At this point, our Transitional Employment Program (TEP) was created.

The TEP is a skill-building program that is aimed at rebuilding confidence and self-esteem. This is based out of the Selkirk Support Centre and the satellite centres. An opening evaluation is completed with the participant outlining employment skills and goals they wish to achieve. Evaluations are done on a quarterly basis to keep the program focused on the individual's goals.
Services
At the Selkirk & Interlake Mental Health Support Centre, we act as a hub for adults in need of personal assistance and community involvement. We have 5 Manitoba locations, and we act as an advocate to help individuals obtain skills, employment and emotional wellness. When we help individuals, we focus our services on 9 concrete objectives.
In order to provide our members with tangible benefits to increase their personal growth, the Selkirk & Interlake Mental Health Support Centre offers specialized programs. These provide concrete benefits for participants, with the ultimate objective being to increase life skills, social interaction and emotional health.
The Sunflower Cafe is a restaurant that's attached to the recreation hall of the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. It was established in September of 1999 and provides a supportive, recovery-based employment program for adult persons with a lived experience. Employees will participate in an intense work training program, which is designed to help individuals overcome the barriers they may experience while actively re-entering the work place.
The Selkirk & Interlake Mental Health Support Centre was founded in 1991 in Selkirk, Manitoba. In the years that followed, we expanded with new centres in the surrounding areas of Interlake and northern Eastman. These drop-in centres provide those in need with education, advocacy and emotional support to facilitate their integration into their communities.
At the Selkirk & Interlake Mental Health Support Centre, we run 5 locations in Manitoba's Interlake and Eastman regions. At these drop-in centres, we offer valuable resources for those experiencing mental health issues. Through education, advocacy and practical education, we aim to help individuals to reintegrate in their local communities.
