Called checkmate and instantly got set up with a driver,then the driver called me and asked where I was going,then said they'd be 10mins. They prioritized their rides and ghosted me without even a phone call, after waiting 45 minutes I called Kelowna cabs and was picked up a minute later...I probably won't use this service no more sadly

Nice driver, but this cab was super dirty (inside and out) and honestly looked like it had been rear ended as it had a huge crack on the right rear trunk that was sort of hanging away from the car. The inside was absolutely filthy. FILTHY. I’m not exaggerating when I say this (see my included pictures) debris, dust, actual dirt accumulation on every surface. This car has never seen a vacuum or a cloth. It was disgusting and I felt very uneasy about being in a car this filthy (that I was paying money to ride in with my children home from the airport). I pre-booked a cab the day before we were scheduled for pickup. I was clear we had 4 passengers and 4 pieces of luggage. The dispatcher booked our service. I had to call back to adjust the time as our flight changed and dealt with a different person on the phone. This individual told me they had no cabs available in our new time window or the in the original time window. So basically a cab would not have showed up at our 5:30 am pickup time leaving us in a tricky situation to get to the airport. They recommended to call a different cab company which I did and they were very accommodating. Won’t

It was very late in the day or early in the morning at 1:15am when I called. For some reason I missed the first driver’s call and by the time I called back (5 minutes later), he had left with another fare at the Kelowna Airport. It was also during a time when the weather was so cold, many of the flights into town were delayed well past 2 hours after initial scheduled times. Just when I thought the reviews were right about this cab company, I called again and dispatch sent someone else. I was irritated but within 1 minute, I received a call from the driver “Dan”. He drove cab #20 tonight.

Ordered a Taxi through the Checkmate Cabs app for an 8:40am pickup from my residence to Kelowna International Airport.
Taxi did not arrive for pickup. I tried calling at 8:50am, waited on hold for 10 minutes. No answer. Began driving myself to the airport. 9:10am (30 minutes late) received call from driver that they had arrived to pick me up. Driver felt bad but basically said that's just the way it is.
I will now have to park my vehicle at the airport for 3 weeks for approximately $650.

We scheduled a taxi for 7AM to head to the airport for a 9AM flight from Kelowna Cabs. We confirmed the time and date prior to going to bed the night before.
At 6:55AM we were downstairs waiting for the cab outside. The cab was nowhere to be found and they did not answer their phones.
Called up Checkmate Cabs, took them 10 minutes to get to my residence and got me to the airport in time.
The driver was amazing. He used to work as a crew member for Supertramp! How awesome!
Will always use Checkmate Cabs when I'm in Kelowna.

Yesterday evening I called to book a cab for 7:00am for the airport. This morning when there was no cab by 7:05 I called the dispatch number to check. The woman on dispatch assured me that they were running a little behind but that my cab was nearly at my location (a lie, as it turns out). At 7:15 I called again but she wouldn't answer. Finally, desperate and worried that I'd miss my flight, I woke up my sister to get her to take me. While on the phone the cab showed up--at 7:24! The driver claimed he'd just been dispatched 5 minutes earlier. I grilled him as to how this had happened

Best cab company in town ... but book in advance. DO NOT trust the wait times on their app. This morning I booked a trip to get to work... ETA was 10 mins & almost AN HOUR later still didn't have a driver assigned. Spent half an hour on hold trying to figure out what was wrong without getting through, and ended up having to run to catch the bus. Late for work & super disappointed. Would love to get in touch with management to figure out what went wrong.

Horrible Company to work for. I was a car owner and was told who I could and couldn't hire especially when it came to certain race. They discriminate against those who work for them, some policies and procedures apply to some, not to others. They do not put any money back into the company and charge the car owners and drivers ridicules fees. It's people like this who own Checkmate, that give the industry a bad name. Monopolize for their own personal gain while taking advantage of those who drive and work for them. If it weren't for the amazing driver and car owners, these owners

Horrible company to work for. They treat the drivers and car owners like they own them. We pay them for a dispatch service, that's it, but they want to dictate what we can and can't do. Car owners are responsible to hire their own drivers, but they tell us who we can and can't hire, especially if its regarding a certain race. If you stand up for the unjust and the discrimination with in this company, they do whatever they can to suspend your drivers and and hurt you financially. I thank my blessings not to have to deal with these people ever again.

Posting for a family member who recently had a horrible experience with a particular employee of Checkmate Cabs:
KELOWNIANS, DO NOT USE CHECKMATE CABS.
Yesterday I called a cab to take me to the hospital for a pre-planned MRI and an emergency X-ray to check both for a pulmonary embolism but also Covid-19. I had symptoms of both. The driver who came was not wearing a mask. I offered him a new, sterile N95 mask in a sealed package. He would not accept it. In addition, he had parked so that the back door was directly over an 8" deep pothole in a construction area beside my apartment complex

Called Check mate cab yesterday for pickup at 9:45 am today. Unfortunately due to my flight delay and I got a text early at 7ish am in the morning, I managed to notified Checkmate cab right away. The dispatch lady was very friendly and had no issue changing the time. Probably she was able to look up my profile through my caller ID. I changed the time for 11 am pickup. The taxi driver showed up at 11:05 am so not bad. The taxi driver was very friendly. He had no issue finding the address I provided him because he used a GPS.
Everything went well. Got to the airport on time.

Cab arrived 5 minutes after they were called. Lady driver who was super friendly but not overbearing. Had lots of neat information about the town for first timers (us) and had excellent recommendations for us to explore on our day. Her suggestions were fabulous and she made sure we had a contact for a ride home. A+++ experience
