Your pet's health and well being is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible care.

Our hospital offers veterinary care for the total well-being of your pet. We have a number of resources for you to learn about how to take better care of your pets.
Services
Prairie Winds Animal Clinic is proud to serve the Calgary Alberta area for everything pet related. We are committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise. Prairie Winds Animal Clinic remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.
Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We evaluate the cat/dog's overall health from head to tail, and make sure to check everything in between. To help detect any abnormalities before they become serious problems. A recheck examination is an appointment that allows us to assess the progress and follow-up on your dog's disease or problem.
When you are looking for a veterinary care clinic you should be able to count on superior care and excellent service. We have a veterinary facility which is clean, comfortable, and efficient. Call 403-474-8436 to schedule an appointment and we will find a time that is convenient for you. Once a year, you should take your pet in for a check-up.
Annual physical exams are an important part of providing optimal health care and the best longevity for your beloved companion. Cats age quickly and they are unable to tell us if they are feeling a little off. Remember, it may be one year in your life but that can be about 5-10 comparative years in your cat's life.

Called to see if I could make a appointment for my cat. They weren't able to quote a price for a standard x-ray which all the other offices I called were able to tell me. I asked when the earliest they would be able to see him and they said they couldn't tell me unless I sent his paperwork over from the other vet and then they would call me to book an appointment. Not sure what kind of vet office is unable to answer BASIC questions about appointment times and fees.

Critical: Reliability
The receptionist is very nice the price is very reasonable. However it has been 3 months and I still haven't received my rabies tag.

Dr Patel is very caring about the animals, and not overcharging like other vets. I am not sure why there are negative comments about the service. I find the staff friendly and responsive.

Positive: Quality, Value
First vet visit. Dr. Patel is not the usual chatty personality. But he was amazing with my puppy. I asked him what was the next shots and when, he gave me straightforward answers which is what I prefer. Gus loved him gave him kisses and he showed him love back. The clinic was clean.

I don't really get why people are leaving negative reviews just because ths clinic is calling them out.
I got both my pups neutered and spayed here and they both came back with really neat and clean stitches. They also recovered fairly quickly and are not hesitant when they're are there and being checked.
Yes, it's a small clinic but it's not a bad one. The receptionist is really nice and you can tell that the doctor loves animals.

Absolutely terrible vet clinic. I took our 21 year old cat here for diagnosis and advice. The vet was cold hearted, rude, rushed. I'd never take any animal to this clinic. The girl at the front tried to be helpful, but was scattered and inexperienced. Don't take your precious pet here.

One of the best places I have taken my puppy too. He was feeling a little off, and I could see it and Dr. Patel diagnosed him right there. I was thoroughly impressed with how he treated my puppy, like it was his own, and since that day, whenever I ever need my puppy checked, that will be my go to. The front desk is also just amazing. They treat everyone with care and respect, and I was reading some of the reviews, and I just want to say, don't let someone's experience dictates yours, try it out yourself and then make the decision through the experience you had :). And remember, it's also very immature

Dr. Patel is amazing, first vet to discover he has a heart murmur (13 years old). Only vet my dog had actually liked. He gets down on the dogs level and pets them. A vet that actually cares, he calls personally to follow up . Non-rushed service (he spends time with you and explains everything in detail) Great , polite, prompt receptionist Sarah there also. Great prices. Super affordable. Worth the drive from Chestermere.

I have been taking my dog here since he was a puppy. Every time I have had amazing service. Vets can be really expensive and they are very reasonably priced compared to any other vets. The doctor always goes the extra mile to make sure my dog feels comfortable.

Awesome vet and the best prices in town. A no frills type place, you get what you pay for. My puppy is a tiny, but hard to manage at the vet. For vaccinations, she needs to be restrained. The vet and vet tech are awesome about doing holds on her that help her relax and allow them to do their jobs. Afterwards she always gets praise and plays with the vet until he's forgiven in her mind! My cats also adore him, which is weird for cats at the vet! Overall, just expect what you pay for: quality service but no such frills.

Dr.R.Patel did the vaccinations on my Boston. He did end up reacting to them. One phone call, and this vet was waiting for my Oscar. He got to work right away and stopped Oscar's reaction. It was scary watching our boy swell. But, with his quick actions, he was able to turn around and send us home with Oscar! I am impressed with his practice. We have used him for years and will gladly continue. Thank You, Dr.Patel!

The Vet (Dr Patell) is very humble and very knowledgeable, very caring and has one of the best prices in town....
I live a little far from here but i dont mind the drive, i guess that is the least i can do for my babies....

I went to this clinic a couple months ago, it was my first time. I wasn't impressed as the vet was running late. I was told he was free and could take me 30 mins earlier than expected, so I go over early and he was busy. So, I didn't get in any earlier than what my previous appointment time had been.

Once the vet saw me, he wasn't that talkative. I was quite upset because my cat was in bad shape and it was mostly me asking questions trying to get his thoughts without doing any tests just a basic exam. I had wanted some reassurance...

The end decision was my cat ended up being

After calling around to various vets around the city, I settled on Prairie Winds for the euthanasia of my extremely ill 17 year old cat. Their extended hours and low prices drew us here, but I was also quite pleased with the compassion and sympathy offered to me and my family. They understood the urgency of our situation and despite us being half an hour late for our 6pm appointment, they did not rush us at all (we were there until after closing) and handled the situation very professionally. We opted to have our kitty privately cremated and I am confident she is being handled with care and dignity
