Hard water is softened by removing the calcium and magnesium it contains. When hard water passes through the softening system's resin bed, the calcium and magnesium (hardness) ions are removed through an ion exchange process, so only softened water passes through to your home. Once the resin bed fills up with hardness ions, it must be regenerated (cleaned).

I've just had my water system/filter installed by Andy at AJ's Water Treatment. Andy is extremely knowledgeable, patient, always on time and a pleasure to deal with overall. The water system installed is great and I can smell and taste the difference in the water already. I've recommended him and his company to my friends and neighbors!
