Garneau Tennis Club
In 1926 Harry Ainlay, principal of the Garneau Public School, convinced the city to allocate a block of land for recreation use, between 83rd and 84th Avenues and 109th and 110th Streets. Four shale tennis courts were built on the land, using volunteer labour. The following year a small clubhouse was built, to be used by skaters in the winter and tennis players in the summer.

The skating rink was located where the Cafe Select now stands. In 1929 the Garneau Community League Tennis Club was founded. Two additional shale tennis courts were built some time before 1950, and two asphalt courts were added in the 1980s. The Garneau Community League built a multi-use facility adjacent to the tennis courts in the 1970s.
Services
Choose the gate closest to your booked court - there is an entrance gate by Court 1, Court 3/4, Court 5, and Court 7. If you need to pass by other players on other courts, wait until they are at their baseline, and pass along the fence. This will give you 6 m of space (which is triple the required distance).
Edmonton's finest, featuring 3 enclosed sand courts. Located just minutes from downtown, Garneau is also close to the University of Alberta campus, major malls, park areas, and Whyte Ave. Throughout the beach season, Garneau hosts weekly leagues as well as weekend tournaments. Garneau's common purpose is to promote beach volleyball by offering outdoor events that are conducted in an effective and professional manner.
Member bookings can be made via the the Skedda App. Once you have paid for an Adult, Full Access (Dual), Junior or Student membership you will receive an email with login information within 48 hours of purchase. All players and spectators must check in at the office before entering the beach volleyball courts.
Check the website at 5:00pm on game day to see if games are still on. Leagues will only be cancelled in the event of nearby lightning or extreme weather conditions. If games are cancelled, the "Game On!" will be changed to indicate the games are cancelled. If you are registered in this league and are coming to the beach volleyball courts to play league volleyball at your scheduled time, you do not need to check in at the office.
Meet Sasha - short for Oleksandra. She was born in Ukraine and raised in Egypt. She returned to Ukraine to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and fell in love with volleyball. While playing libero on the National University of Ukraine Kiev Polytechnic Institute team that won Nationals 3 years in a row, she was introduced to beach volleyball.

Worst experience this past summer. My daughter was registered for youth beach volleyball camp for a week in July. 30 minutes before the camp was set to start, while I was driving my daughter to the club, I received an email informing me that the camp was cancelled. She was offered one free lesson and 3 additional private lessons, the last 3 at my… insistence. She had the free lesson, however for the other 3 the pro, Jae’Lyn, did not get back to me to book them. I emailed and phoned on several occasions. Lastly, I wrote to both her and the president of the club, and no reply. Beyond
