It can be frustrating when your child is struggling with a mental health issue or may be in crisis and you don't know where to go for help. We believe you should be able to take care of your child and it shouldn't be so hard to get them treatment for a mental health problem. Pathstone has been providing world class mental health services for children for over 50 years.
Nothing is more important than your child's health and you need a safe place where your child will be heard and get the treatment they need. We understand that you and your child may be nervous, not knowing what to expect, so we make sure we're kid friendly from the time you walk in the front door.

Services
There are many burdens that can weigh on a child's mind. For some, the weight of a mental health disorder makes the burden far heavier than it is for others. Mental illness in young children, pre-teens, and adolescents is widespread and often goes undetected, and ultimately untreated. The majority of our services are offered FREE of charge to the children, youth, and families of Niagara.
Our roots date back to 1966 when caring professionals of the Niagara community came together to consider the social, emotional, psychological and educational well-being of Niagara's children, youth and families. Those community efforts resulted in the formation of two highly regarded agencies, the Niagara Child Development Centre (NCDC) in 1968, and the Niagara Centre For Youth Care (NCYC) in 1976.
Pathstone Mental Health is the only accredited provider of children's mental health treatment in the Niagara region. We offer a broad spectrum of treatment services and programs, delivered by highly qualified staff to strengthen children and families. We serve all children and youth from birth through to their eighteenth birthday.
Parents and caregivers can also use the walk-in clinic for children under the age of six, if they are concerned about child related ages and stages, are constantly arguing with their child or are worried about their child's social and emotional challenges. Did you complete a walk-in clinic session, either in-person or virtually or speak to someone through our Crisis & Support line?.
On behalf of myself and our team at Pathstone Mental Health, we want to welcome you and tell you a little more about your new journey with Pathstone! In addition to providing Niagara's children, youth and their families with the mental health support they need, we as the Lead Agency of Child and Youth Mental Health services in Niagara, also work with our community partners to ensure you have the best experience possible.

Waited 18 months and my child needs help. Our file got closed without our knowledge, and they expect us to do it all over again. Went to the parent classes, they haven't even talked to my child, or seen him, and they closed his file.they contacted my wife, after we went to parenting classes, my wife said we still needed help, and they closed his file still.

After an 18 month wait list, we were able see a grief and trauma therapist; she cancelled on multiple occasions and was inconsistent with her replies to emails and rescheduling appointments. She LOVED to talk about herself. Her office was a complete mess. This broken system failed us. Angel Graham; your 'expertise' was quite disappointing!

We had high hopes that we could access support and assistance for our child. Turns out all they want to do is send you back to your doctor and have pills prescribed to children. Donna Tyler was dismissive in our conversations when we were seeking additional therapies to help our struggling child. Truly disappointed.

I know a lot of people have problems with the walk in but you have to remember it's not a full time doctor that you are seeing ever week they see you one time for an hour for FREE you don't get that anywhere else!!
Yes sometimes they will say "maybe mom and dad can try this or that" and it makes you feel that they are blaming you saying it all your fault but you have to remember ITS NOT ALL THE CHILD'S FAULT either yes the child needs help but it take a FAMILY to FIX what is BROKEN!! My daughter was going that and she has changed so much but she was not the only one that did the work my self and

The quality of the service is VERY dependant on the staff and program. For practically ALL of 2018 (At home complications made me have to stay longer than anyone else had)
I had to live in their intensive care rotary house location in Niagara Falls and it was the worst year of my life.
There were only two staff members who cared, the rest all brushed off mental illness and were very mentally abusive. I was told to just "Not be depressed" by one of the staff there, despite being part of a mental health service.
Other staff members forced us to do yard work while they sat inside and did nothing
