This location is now owned by getaway farms. I'm delighted as you know I love to make soup stock, and now I just have to go down the street to get my bones rather than down to the seaport market. They have so much stuff in that store from knives to preserves to produce locally grown...I love it even more
Oh, and to let you know, they also make their own beef n chicken stock. Top notch.

For a family picnic, and in a hurry, I asked a family member to pick up a half-dozen each of chicken legs, thighs and breasts at Getaway Farm at the Market. It came to $100! I cannot believe this. They were enormous pieces, so from probably from older hens. The breasts has a lot of back attached to them, as well, for which I paid the premium price. SO disappointed.

This is the BEST place to buy meat, ever. The staff are super knowledgable and have a great attitude. I've learned so much about preparing and cooking meat from Getaway that I can't believe I ever went anywhere else. Chris and Ben love their work and it shows when the tell you about a new cut they have or even a new idea on how to prepare it. I think one of the best features is their constantly changing, evolving and doing something new, which is welcome because you feel part of it. Cheers.

Getaway is a great shop for your pork and beef needs.
The belly bacon, when it isn't sold out, is fantastic. Thick cut, and I swear it loses less weight when it's cooked; not sure if this is because it's less fatty than regular commercial bacon or if that stuff is water chilled, but I'd say you're getting more bang for your buck in both quality and quantity. I think it clocks in at $8/lb.
The breakfast sausages were a substitute for me when they were out of bacon on a recent visit. They have a fairly mild seasoning to them, and not quite that typical breakfast sausage

This is a great place to get local meats and the cows are grass fed. I have tried the ground beef and some of their sausages and both are delicious. I highly recommend the apple rosemary sausage. They also have maple sausage and banger sausage. You can see them cutting the meat in front of you so you know it's fresh. Their website goes into detail how they raise their cows and why it's better for the environment and the cows. I am happy to support this business at the Farmer's Market.
