Hojoe Coffee & Books
2015 has been a year of exciting change at Ho Joe's! Lay low with friends in our newly designed cafe located at 103 Main Street S with the same signature drinks, such as the Blondie, Kenora Mist and famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. New, healthy additions to our menu include fresh salads prepared to order.

Our baristas continue to take personable service one step further by handwriting inspirational quotes on the sleeves of customer's to-go cups and directing them to the cafe's community board for a Pay-It-Forward coffee sleeve.

Outstanding sandwiches, & its always great to go in and see what baked goods the ladies are offering today. Its a must have; I was busy at work for 3 days and realized I hadn't eaten much lately, so whats better than Ho Joes? These sandwiches were like they fell from Heaven into the hands of a starving man. Many thanks!!

Great coffee! They have pumpkin spice lattes and they offer oat milk for vegans / non-dairy people. Delicious!

Delicious grilled sandwiches. Coffee beans that I bought there weren't the freshest, but the coffee does brew a nice cup. A bit pricey, but I guess they are a small business surviving Covid.

Artisan coffee this is not. Neither a comfy atmosphere for some comfort food. All we wanted was a well crafted cappuccino after home brew all August and we we so disappointed.

There were no prices listed on the board so when the panini I ordered turned out to be $15.50 I expected it to be pretty good. It was the simplest thing I've ever eaten at a cafe. I asked why on their website this panini is listed for $7.50 and they said that's wrong and it's because it comes with chips, dip and a pickle (I hadn't noticed the sign that said all sandwiches come with this because it wasn't on the menu I ordered from ...
The chips were definitely the Noname gross ruffles and not great dip either. The panini itself shouldnt even cost $7.50 and why on earth a few gross chips, dip and

Owner was rude.
Came in to charge my laptop, bought a coffee and scone then was told to unplug my laptop "because we don't provide power for laptops". No where was it stated that there was neither wifi or what would remotely resemble a courtesy from the owner. They may be the only cafe in town, but that's no reason to give service to people a if they have no where else to go.

I should have listened to the reviews before coming here! The food and drinks were mediocre at best and over priced for the quality. None of the staff were wearing masks (despite the mandate). I also ordered my drink half sweet but it was still sickeningly sweet. When I asked the barista about this, she said that she had heard us order it half sweet but hadn't actually bothered to reduce the syrup in it... I almost never bring back food but we couldn't even finish our drinks. I wouldn't bother getting anything other than a drip coffee here.

Sandwiches are pretty good. Actually great. And large enough for two meals (for me). Still haven’t tried my coffee but it looks promising.

On my travels east last week, I discovered this treasure of coffee culture and so I am back on my westward return! I don’t think I have ever tasted a better breakfast paninis! Awesome coffee and friendly folks! Thank you HoJoe’s! Barry Adams, Alberta.

What a strange place... Almost like they don't want customers. Sign in store says "please don't stay for more than an hour." Basically sums up the environment. The staff is patronizing and unkind and the food is mediocre. You're better off at a Starbucks.

We have not been to HoJo for years but after coming for a few days to visit we decided to come in for a to go coffee.

My daughter decides to order a matcha latte but was unaware that it was loaded with sugar.

So we kindly asked if we could substitute with a tea......well if looks could kill from the lady making sandwiches I would not be alive to read this. It took them at least 30 seconds to respond and her response to us was "well I guess so"

It only was that awful but my cappuccino had cold foam and cold milk.

What a lousy place this has become. So different from the vibe

What a great little coffee shop! Try the Kenora Mist...it is delicious! I especially liked the surprise message on my Togo cup, which I didn't notice until much later and made me smile.
The people are friendly and full of smiles, which warms not only the establishment, but all who enter. Be sure to stop in when you are in Kenora. It is sure to make your day.
