Saddlewood has been a dream-come-true for girls who love horses. In 1965 our parents purchased 400 rolling acres in the beautiful Bethany Hills. They founded Saddlewood Riding Camp in 1968 with only ten horses and a handful of riders. Fifty years later, Saddlewood welcomes horse crazy girls from all over Canada, the United States and the rest of the world.
Our small group of horses has grown into a herd of over 100 well-schooled horses and ponies who call Saddlewood home. Saddlewood is family owned and operated. It's all about the riding! When campers arrive at Saddlewood they participate in a short riding evaluation.

Services
Horses are stabled in one of three barns containing box stalls and separate tack rooms. Each box stall is labeled with the horse's name and each horse has its own saddle and bridle. There are multiple cross-country courses on Saddlewood's property. NEW FOR 2021 - Grasshopper Cross Country Field perfect for first time cross country riders.
It's All about the riding! When campers arrive at Saddlewood they participate in a short riding evaluation. Along with this evaluation and the questionnaire filled out by campers before their arrival, all campers are put in one of up to fourteen riding groups according to ability and interest. Horses and ponies are assigned according to the size and ability of the rider.
The archery programme at Saddlewood follows the programme set out by the 'Ontario Association of Archers'. This is a step-by-step progression through a colour-coded system of levels. At all times, campers are instructed in safety precautions as well as skill development. Arts & crafts are very popular at Saddlewood.

The only good thing about this place is the riding, you do learn a lot, but thats only for 2 hours of your day. The afternoon activites are awful. Almost all of the archery bows were broken beyond repair. All of the guitars had at least one string broken, and the Counsellor running the activity didn't even teach us how to play and just sat there using her phone. We never used the tennis court once during the session either. I got food poisoning twice from eating the food, and it ended up in me being not be able to ride for 3 days. The cabins are disgusting and EXTREMELY hot. I woke up sweating
