Nicolston, founded by John Nicol in 1853 was originally know as "Car-luke" which is Gaelic for "Valley surrounded by Hills". The business is run by the 5th & 6th Generation. As with many of the settlements in the years. Nicolston started with the establishment of a saw mill which was later converted into a flour and grist mill when supplies of timber were exhausted.

As much as I don’t want to post this in fear of competition with other campers, I simply have to! Likely the largest, cleanest, friendliest and family oriented gem for families with big camping gear and small alike.
The Nottawasaga River snakes it’s way through the park and many sites are right in the water. You have to try it out! Close to home, close to amenities and feels like you are away from it all.
I’d give them 6 stars if another was available.
The website leave a lot to be desired, and they are not the easiest to book with, but when your get in, everything else is like clockwork

Absolutely amazing experience & park! My husband had a sports event in Barrie over the weekend; trying to find accommodations last minute was exceptionally hard without the additional challenge of requiring a pet-friendly hotel. The prices were a little unreasonable for hotels for a 2 night stay. I came across Nicolston Dam. Contacted them asking if they had any availability and they did! I am so happy with my stay. I've grown up camping and toured many camp sites/parks and I can say this one has become our family park. With a 5 month old and a puppy, we have high standards. The service we received

Impeccably maintained family campground. A little slice of heaven. Feels like you are worlds away from the city with amenities just minutes away if you need them. Pool is clean and warm, river is great for swimming with the kids. There is even a little beach for building sandcastles. A family favourite!
