I am writing this review to extend my sincerest gratitude to the doctors and staff at Clarkson Village Animal Hospital. I brought my dog Cooper in the other day because he had become lethargic and was excessively shaking. Upon arrival the woman at reception was incredibly sweet and understanding of my concerns. The staff was very thorough with their COVID protocol , which I appreciated. Cooper was seen by Dr. Hertel who was incredibly efficient. I appreciated the time he took to explain the steps he was taking and being so compassionate when discussing costs and diagnosis. We ended up discovering

Hello everyone,
My dog Leonardo was 4 years old and ill and I took him to this clinic and we put him down….they did a really good job, ofcourse they will when your paying thousands of dollars…..
My friend picked me up yesterday, I was weak and heartbroken and I left my vehicle in their parking lot over night…..
Went to pick it up today and this woman comes that works there and first thing she says to me is “I WAS ABOUT TO CALL YOU AND GET YOUR CAR TOWED AWAY, THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY”
How do you say that ?

Traumatic experience for my dog... Went in with a big dog who got treated for a broken nail. Over 500 dollars later we bring the dog home and he goes in a heavily sedated state confused dizzy nauseas horrified and crying all night. We had to sleep next to him to keep him comfortable because he didn't know why he was feeling like this. He was over-doped causing a days worth of hell for him all for an unnecessary nail procedure which was done to take our money. Animals are not objects, they are sensitive beings and as a vet clinic you must always put the animals comfort over everything else. We switched

Lack of detail and potential attempt at prolonging my departure from their services.
TL;DR version at the bottom.
I was trying to get my animals files transferred to my new vet. (Financially, the new vet made more sense and I specified this on the phone call as my reason for departure.) They let me know that it wouldnt be a problem, but there was a vaccine that I prepaid and just needed to come get done before finalizing her file and shipping it out.
Fair! If its prepaid all I have to do is go in and get the shot, correct?
Person on the phone said yes that is correct and I showed up to my next

I was there for the WORST possible reason. Our beloved fur baby Fritz "The Cat" became gravely ill out of nowhere. The Vets and accompanying staff went above and beyond the line of duty caring for our sick kitty. Unfortunately he was so sick there was nothing they could possibly do to save Fritz. Diabetic Ketoacidosis was the diagnosis and sadly, it took him as fast as it came. The only humane thing at this time was to make the arrangements to euthanize him. He was only 8 years old, 100% healthy right before it happened. Wednesday night we were playing and carrying on as normal, the next day he

Clarkson Village Animal Hospital staff have been amazing in helping to provide care for my rescue dog who deals with fear based aggression. I am so thankful for their caring attitude and willingness to try to find the right approach to work with my dog. A special thanks to Dr. Forbes!

We have taken our dogs, and a number of foster dogs, here for a number of years. They're often pretty busy so calling ahead is a good idea as they can give you the best times to come. The fact that they're open 24/7 is such a great convenience. They've helped us out with lots of routine stuff with our dogs, in addition to a few emergencies and have been good to deal with.

Such amazing staff. We had to come in to put down our dog as her healthy quickly deteriorated one evening. Everyone was so patient and thoughtful throughout the whole process. The vet even cut out a cute little heart bandage her paw. Thinking about it now still makes me tear up.
We’re not ready to get another dog just yet but I certainly know we’ll be taking all our future pets here. Thank you for your compassion in a very difficult time. My family and I will never forget it.

I suggest that you avoid this vet at all costs. A visit to them, and subsequent misdiagnosis, almost cost my dog her life. I visited the vet again after my dog had fully recovered to discuss this with them, and in their words "we accept no responsibility for our vet's diagnosis or prescriptions". Needless to say, I will not be risking my pet's life at Clarkson no matter what the circumstances. There are many other vets in the area who instead work with integrity and honesty to choose from.

Before the pandemic, I would've given this animal hospital five stars due to slightly slow, but amazing service and a surgeon that was able to be clear and truthful about my dog's walking situation after the removal of a massive growth that caused muscle atrophy in her back leg. I was very lucky, everything worked out as hoped with surgery especially afterwards due to clear communication and recommended intensive physio which I learned myself to help her with her arthritis. My dog had since been very successful and happy, had a dental cleaning at her other vet as we were in another province for
