My name is Jim Van Rassel, owner of NEW TREND OPTICAL. We are located at 2550-B Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam. We have been serving the Tri-City area now for 30 years from our present Port Coquitlam location. Eyeglasses and sunglasses, prescription or not, are the most noticeable piece of functional jewelry one wears.

This was one of the best Optician experiences I've had. The entire staff is helpful. Jim is so attentive, and he knows his stuff. He made an assessment based off of the way I work and live, and recommended different types of prescriptions based on it.
The prices are great, and they offer free sight testing. I will definitely come back.

Visiting family in Port Coquitlam and had an eye glasses malfunction. The arm of my fairly new Oakleys came off. Stopped into this wonderful shop to see if they had a repair service. No questions asked, my glasses were repaired immediately. My wife mentioned her glasses were not fitting well. No problem, friendly staff took and adjusted them! No charge. Two happy sightseers on our way again. If any friends are in the Port Coquitlam area in need of glasses and great service, stop here!!

I’ve been wearing glasses my whole life, never have I had such an enjoyable eye glasses shopping experience. Great experience at New Trend Optical, the owner and knowledgeable staff; Jim and Ryan were experts in the field of eye wear and very pleasant to deal with.
My story: There was a knick in the paint of my newly ordered and made glasses, literally like a dot like this . Mentioned to the staff, and without asking the owner said, “we’ll order and make you new ones” honestly I was ok fixing with a blue marker but Jim said that’s not what you ordered.

A few years ago the team at New Trend set me up with replacement office progressives - replacing a pair that I had gotten from an inexpensive optical outfit. They explained the difference in the higher quality lenses that they use, and when I got them the difference was absolutely amazing! They were a bit more expensive, but the higher quality lenses made such a difference in my everyday eyesight. They have once updated my prescription using my same frames, and at least twice have fixed my frames with no charge! Quality and service are great here!

After having lunch, I noticed that one of the nose pads from my glasses had fallen out. My friend, who raved about New Trend Optical, recommended that we drop by their store (which was 3 blocks away) to get my glasses repaired. They graciously replaced both nose pads for free on the spot which was unexpected and very much appreciated. Thank you.

Terrific service! I accidently twisted one of the hinges on my new prescription eyeglasses by sitting on them! Oh no!
I googled "eyeglasses repair" and found the nearby New Trend Optical.
I called them up, explained the problem, and was asked to just bring my glasses in. Well, the repair was fast--I was in and out in less than ten minutes--and flawlessly done. You can't tell that the hinge was ever even bent! Thanks!!!
