STR8 Up
We provide a supportive community where our members can bond over shared experiences and learn together. We strengthen community across the city and province by sharing our stories and working to promote understanding and empathy. Learn about Build UP Saskatoon - a social enterprise through Quint Development Corp. that provides members with an opportunity to participate in transitional employment.

We've been running community presentations for over 15 years across Saskatchewan and the prairies. Our presentations focus on the goals and conditions of being a STR8 UP member, and provide an opportunity for members to share their personal experiences with trauma and healing. Consider volunteering a few hours of your time or making a monetary donation.
Services
At the heart of the STR8 UP guiding principles* is a member-driven philosophy where members are core to all relations and activities. 4. Healing comes from within but it is everyone's responsibility to support it. 5. Healing is a long, difficult, and painful process, full of setbacks, failures and slips.
Father Andre is Lead Chaplain at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre. Two active gang members who had participated in community outreach presentations with Andre expressed their desire to leave their gangs and wanted support from him as they worked to change their lives. This was how STR8 UP began - with Andre and a growing number of men, women, and youth who relied on him for support, counseling, and a community connection.
STR8 UP members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Most, but not all are ex-gang members, many have served time in youth, provincial, or federal correctional centres. Many are also proud parents, students and employees. Some serve as youth representatives for National Indigenous organizations, some serve on boards for local community organizations, regularly volunteer their time and are invested in community healing.
STR8 UP offers programs for individuals who want to exit gang life, engage in educational and/or employment training and reduce negative contacts with the criminal justice system. The GVRS-CIM project serves all of North and North Central Saskatchewan. Your worker will help coordinate government and community services to meet your needs and help you achieve your work and education goals.
STR8 UP facilities sharing circles at Kilburn Hall (youth offender facility in Saskatoon) and at Saskatoon Correctional Centre (men's correctional facility). Partnership program with CFS Saskatoon - lifeskills program dealing with addictions, relationships, boundaries, etc. Depending on the number of women who are active members at STR8 UP we offer a few programs.
