Pregnancy is a time when a lot of change is happening. It is a great time to evaluate your family's overall health and make choices about your lifestyle that will have a long-term impact on the health of yourself and your loved ones. Some pregnancies are planned whilst some are unplanned. Folic acid (also called folate, folacin, or vitamin B9) is a vitamin that helps grow and protect cells.
The first trimester is considered the initial third of your pregnancy. Historically, your pregnancy would be determined based on your last menstrual period. You conceived around week two and so the first third of pregnancy is weeks three to fourteen. Your first appointment with a midwife will be booked when you are roughly ten to twelve weeks.
Ultrasound is considered to be safe in pregnancy, however, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) only recommends ultrasounds that are medically indicated. To establish your due date (recommended by the SOGC for all pregnant people, regardless of menstrual history),.

Anatomy ultrasound: Performed at 18-23 weeks (because KGH goes by BMI), to check that fetal development is appropriate and confirm location of the placenta, .If you have a history of small babies, gestational diabetes, or have used in-vitro fertilization ( IVF) to conceive, or. We do not recommend 3D or 4D ultrasounds, or any additional recreational ultrasounds during pregnancy.
