According to their Supervisor, I was not in distress and so I was hung up on...? (I was in distress, why else would I call a distress line!?) Talk about invalidating!! I called back and a different worker picked up. I tried to explain the situation but they hung up on me too! This line is in dire need of help. There is a lack of training in regards to trauma and a genuine lack of empathy and compassion. Apparently calling the line more than once a day is considered, "Long-term therapy," which according to them is not what they offer. And so, they hang up on you in order to silence you and avoid

Me and my 16 year old son have been homeless for a week we have been couch surfing or sleeping outside. My son doesnt want to be seperated from me cuz of my heart condition and afraid to go to a youth shelter. I called mobile and they refused to help. What good is having a after hour emergency place if they wont help you. So we sleep outside in the cold once again. This kind of treatment is this to make us freeze in this cold weather. Something needs to be done.
