Canada Heavy Equipment College
Canada Heavy Equipment College (CHEC) provides high quality training in a constantly evolving industry where government, safety, and engineering improvements change the operator's responsibilities. Our ultimate goal is to create a trained, employable professional that can work safely and effectively.

The vast majority of our AZ students pass their road test on their first attempt! An impressive precentage of our Heavy Equipment Operator graduates find work within their desired industry! Although we do our best to assist you in getting your next employment, we do not guarantee job placement. Canada Heavy Equipment College runs an information session every month.

Have successfully demonstrated the ability to safely start, stop, and operate all of the equipment and be able to perform all basic skills related to the equipment - berm, stockpile, V-ditch, trench, loading, grading, site surveying basics, and preventative maintenance.
The program schedule will include hands-on instructor demonstrations and practice to learn commonly used construction techniques (building a berm, digging a trench, sloping, V ditching etc.). Grader is primarily used in construction and snow removal; prepares surfaces for road building, road maintenance, parking lots, airport runway and access routes, all typically used prior to road asphalt activities.
Tractor Trailer (AZ) - You will be taught all practical aspects like: proper turning, blind spots, reversing, loading, driver courtesy, coupling/ uncoupling trailer etc. that relate to the current truck driver. You will operate in the city and on the highway to experience realistic conditions in your preparation to be a professional truck driver.
The combination of Transportation and Construction Operator certificate program will provide the maximum exposure to a variety of work opportunities and incomes. This starts you off in the "Drivers seat." You train with a "hands-on style approach". Our instructors teach you all you need to know and more, about the equipment, how to maintain it, as well a variety of industry operational techniques.

I just finished the Heavy Equipment Operator course. I can't say enough about all staff at this college. Every one of them were extremely helpful throughout the process. Any time I had questions, somebody was always there to answer them. I learned a ton from the online coursework as well as the hands-on training. I did a lot of research before deciding where to take this course, and I am so glad I ended up choosing this College as it was the best experience. I would highly recommend them to anybody that is interested in this course

Great opportunity to learn on the excavator , bulldozer , backhoe and grader ! Would recommend students watching all the training videos on the specific machine you are on before you head out to the site to learn. This will save you allot of time getting familiar with the machine and how it operates!
The instructor Tim made me feel comfortable especially on my first week when I was new and nervous . Positive attitude from Tim made me want to be there and even when I made mistakes I was advised professionally on how to correct them!
I'm glad I had this opportunity to learn on the equipment and

I had a really great experience, while taking this program. I started off knowing nothing about heavy equipment, and now feel confident to go off and begin my career in this field. Tim and Dan and both very knowledgeable, and excellent trainers, they were always ready to help if I needed anything, gave very clear instructions, and would demonstrate how to do things if I asked
I will definitely recommend this school to others, and I will be going back in the spring to take their AZ program.

Great school, I am currently finishing up my course with CHEC and have such a great experience there at the pit, being able to learn hands on with each piece of equipment at your own pace with Danny and Tim there to help guide and teach you the controls and what the machine is capable of doing in a safe manner, each staff member I've been introduced with at CHEC has been very helpful and friendly, highly recommend

I went to this school about 3 years ago because I heard it was a great school to go to. The only good thing about this school was the heavy equipment part of it. I also took the AZ part which was a complete waste of my time and money. One of our teachers favoured one of the students and gave him most of the seat time. I also recommended 2 people and got told about referral bonus, which I never ended up getting. I would never recommend this school to anybody. Don’t waste your money or your time.
