To meet these goals MERAK has adopted DevOps and Agile principles and methodologies. Software development has matured and operates much akin to manufacturing. The lean manufacturing movement has taught us that we must make work visible, reduce batch sizes, intervals of work and build in quality by preventing defects from being passed to downstream work centers.
Because we are essentially selling our employees' technology skills, lifelong learning is highly valued. The more skills our employees have, the more we can sell. Some people want to learn a skill and apply it for their entire career, but we're in an industry where that's just not possible. Employees identify what job-related learning opportunities are of interest, and we pay the full amount.
Most of our non-direct communication is through two channels, the first is a corporate email list and second Microsoft Teams. As a technology solution partner, we must be continuously learning and working with the latest tools available. We built a chatbot interface that allows employees to publicly acknowledge their co-workers for doing wonderful things around the office.
