The landscape speaks to me like no other subject matter. Working in oil paint on canvas I try to capture the elements of the larger issues that nature presents using bold colour and tonal contrasts. I feel challenged by the inherent characteristics of my surroundings and believe that is possible to make meaningful art about these characteristics.
Haliburton Drums celebrates community, inclusion and cultural diversity through a range of participatory activities for everyone. Volunteer facilitators worked with Gillian Thomas in 2019 to develop a short program to introduce residents of local long term care facilities to drumming as a way to connect in community.

Amazing art gallery in a stunning location! Run by an enthusiastic and locally-focused curator, as well as a lot of dedicated volunteers. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area, and be sure to leave a donation, as it is not-for-profit! ❤️ There are always really unique and inspiring shows going on, and there is a really cool gift shop filled with local artists’ work. Definitely the best small gallery I’ve been to!

We had a special connection to Rails End while it was still a train station... and we still love stopping in for all the art events and to visit Santa every year.

Located in Haliburton's historic train station, and overlooking beautiful Head Lake Park, this public gallery is a hub of arts programming and events in Haliburton County, and hosts of the annual Haliburton Art & Craft Festival!

Excellent gallery located in the historic railway station. They showcase local artists and put on exhibits, as well as works from Sir Sanford Fleming art college.
During the summer art attack programs are offered for kids too.
