Dr. Sam Axelrod assumed leadership of the dental practice at its current location from another dentist in 1990. Based on his experiences in previous dental practices, he immediately set out to build a practice that was an extension of his belief in the tradition of combining family and quality gentle dentistry - a place where he could build long-lasting, trusting relationships with his patients.

Regular dental check-ups and cleanings help to prevent problems in order to preserve the health of the patient. Early detection and correction of a problem saves time, money, and benefits one's overall health. Good dental habits start early. We recommend that a child begin dental visits at two years old.
Wisdom teeth, which are really a third set of molars, are the last teeth to develop and usually appear in the mouth between the ages of 16 to 20. Unfortunately, the average mouth usually does not have the space to properly accommodate these teeth and they may need to be removed, surgically or otherwise.
Decay is the number one cause of nerve damage. When the decay progresses to the pulp chamber of the tooth, the patient will usually feel sensitivity to hot or cold. The second most common cause is tooth fracture, caused by clenching or grinding your teeth, eating hard foods or chewing ice. Other factors such as trauma to the teeth or face may also result in a tooth requiring root canal treatment.

The best dental care I have ever experienced! All the staff is so warm and friendly! Dentist visits always make me nervous, but Dr. Axelrod always explains procedures to me in detail and is very smooth in his work. They are very reasonable on pricing too! Great place to check out if you’re looking for a stress free dental experience!

Our family has been visiting Dr. Axelrod and the team for...about 25 years. We started there because other dentists couldn’t quite do a good enough job — rough edges, wide gaps, slow painful service. Instead we have found the dental work done here has always been top notch. We never have to wait long for our turn in the chair. Cleanings take a long time because the hygienists are thorough. Billing is expeditious. And everyone we encounter is super friendly.

Not sure why Marcella Marcelle and Elisio Jenkins in the reviews below are going around bashing a bunch of Oshawa dentists, but people like me are looking for honest reviews on Google. I have been going to this dentist since I was a kid and at every single visit Dr. Sam and his staff have treated with me with kindness and gentleness. There is always a great vibe here! Google shouldn't allow fake reviews!

I went to visit my cousin in Oshawa and had an accident that chipped 2 of my front teeth, my uncle called Your Smile Dental Care and told them of my dilemma and without hesitation they told him to bring me right over. Once there, the staff were very professional and had wonderful chair side manners' that put me at ease with the whole situation. The doctor reassured me that they would take great care of me and they did, I am usually terrified at the dentist and I have to say that was the most pleasant experience at a dentist office I have ever had. Thank you Your Smile!
