Marcy Segal spent the first part of her law career as a criminal lawyer and spent two decades practicing criminal law. At all times, her focus was on ensuring that her clients would be treated fairly, regardless of the crime or their guilt or innocence. She was known as a "tough as nails" litigator, resilient to being bullied, or pushed around.
The "maximum contact principle" guides Judges when deciding how much time the children will spend with each parent. However, sometimes, demands for increased access is economically driven. Should the access spouse have the children 40% of the time, then their monthly child support obligations are often reduced.
After a divorce/separation, there is a duty on behalf of a spouse to remain responsible to support all members of the family to the best of his or her ability through support payments. Essentially, child support is calculated according to the spouses' income. Divorcemate contains a calculation that provides both the amount of child support, and a low, mid and high range for spousal support, if appropriate.
As a general principle, each party is entitled to half of the value of "assets", including property, savings accounts, investment accounts, "chattels", etc, after subtracting debts during the parties' marriage. However, there are occasions when a court will award unequal equalization, based upon a number of factors.
Separation Agreements can be extremely detailed, and with proper legal advice, provide a roadmap until their children have completed their first degree in University. Parties need to carefully ask themselves whether they want to relinquish control to their lawyers and a Judge, instead of putting their differences aside and work together, along with lawyers and/or mediators, in a cost effective and less stressful manner.

Very similar to the other reviews, she made sure to let you know how lucky you were she was speaking to you for free. Total lack of empathy, did not listen only wanted to speak and interrupted constantly. At times made points irrelevant to the questions which showed she had already checked out perhaps never really checked in. So disappointing. Her bio made me think she’d be someone who would want to be in your corner especially with kids on the line.

Worst conversation I’ve ever had with an individual.
I called to get some free legal advice as advertised on her google search ad! When I started to speak to her she right she stated her legal fees. I found it odd so mentioned I was calling to get her legal advise as advertised.
She said OK she will call me back when she’s in her car. So right away I knew that I wasn’t going to be viewed as a potential client but nonetheless I did need her advice.
Though out the conversation I told her my current situation and what I planned on doing. As the conversation continued her responses were belittling

One of the most disrespectful lawyers in Ontario Canada, she has no compassion or regard to what her client are experiencing when it comes to emotional family matters. Her inability to speak to her paying client with respect and understanding is second to none. Completely unorganized and unprofessional, during her cases she seems to only care about money and not the actual case. I HIGHLY insist YOU DO NOT CHOOSE THIS LAWYER TO REPRESENT YOU.
