If you like unseasoned meat and raw vegetables, this is the place for you!
It’s difficult to make food tasteless, but this place has managed to do that. For the price you pay per dish this is probably the most disappointing restaurant I’ve been to in the last 10 years. The most flavourful part of the meal was the water, please show the chef what spices are.

Not quite sure how there are so many good reviews for this restaurant. The food was bland, tasteless and uncooked. Was looking forward to a nice meal and it was a total disappointment. I left the restaurant hungry because my meal was so bad I could not eat it. Unacceptable for the price you pay, do not recommend.

Great food but they don’t show the barest scintilla of common sense in seating guests. We were a party of two. They seated us at a 4-person table with another couple at it, separated by a transparent plastic screen in the midst of the Omicron spike. We were literally 2 ft from the next couple. Privacy was virtually non-existent - we might as well have been part of the other couple’s conversation.
If this was a crowded place, I could understand, but there were only 4 other tables with people at them. They bunched 3 of these tables together into the middle of the restaurant for no apparent reason

This little gem was recommended by our massage therapist Mackenzie from One Wellness. It surpassed our expectations. Reggie was our server and he was fantastic. His recommendations were spot on. The French Onion Soup was one of the best I've ever had super rich and cheesy. The Alberta Beef Burger with the added gruyere cheese and kennebec fries was just amazing. This is a definite must and we will definitely be back. Thank you Reggie and Sage Bistro for the awesome experience.

Sage Bistro
Ten stars out of five! We enjoyed a faultless meal at Sage Bistro, for dinner with a party of eight, the night before our Son’s wedding.
An inventive, locally sourced menu…it was hard to choose! From my personal experience, the crab cakes, Thai curry bowl and maple whisky creme brûlée were all superb, and served by a professional but unobtrusive server, who knew his job thoroughly!
I’d highly recommend Sage Bistro! We had a great evening, a superb meal and a lasting memory until we can go again!

Had supper back in Oct before Covid was as bad as it is now, so we were able to dine in. My partner had the beef burger with salad which he said was quite tasty. My friend had Caprese salad and soup of the day, while her partner had the trout. Both were beautifully presented on their plates and both enjoyed their meals. I had the French onion soup, which was very delicious but an exceptionally small portion for the cost of $15. Service was friendly and attentive.

The building is a unique log building structure and the decor and atmosphere inside is relaxing and inviting. Beautiful wall hangings make beautiful accents. The staff are really good at what they do. They are friendly, engaging and very helpful in making a selection and telling you about their specials. Some of my favourite dishes are
RED WINE & ROSEMARY-BRAISED LAMB SHANK -
Lamb Jus + roasted garlic-scallion Yukon gold mash + market vegetables
CHICKEN SUPREME CORDON BLEU
Valbella ham + Gruyère + Morel mushroom cream sauce + house-made gnocchi
+ market vegetables
DUCK LEG CONFIT

Quick dinner so we ordered the trout and the lamb shank respectively. Both were excellent. A small point of appreciation was the cook on the vEgetables which were perfect, not always the case in many establishments. They have a comprehensive wine list with great selection at all price points and a good pairing with the menu. Service was good although not a challenge at the time we went. A great experience to be repeated as we're locals.

The service was good, and the atmosphere cozy. Ate here with friends twice during my stay in Canmore. Both times was not disappointed! Tried the soup of the day both times and enjoyed. The risotto was VERY rich (couldn't finish it) but delicious. Second time around I went for the "Salmon Salad" which is salmon on a bed of herbed/seasoned couscous. Not exactly what I imagined when I thought "salad" but it was really really good. Apparently the owner is a chef (I seem to remember from France)? I typically find you can taste the difference at a local one-off place with a chef

Good food, good wine, and great service in a perfect location and atmosphere.
One of us is vegan and we dined with three toddlers, a typical restaurant would have had a lot of hard time serving us, not the Sage Bistro! The team paid attention to the smallest details and got it all right with no compromises on food quality and flavor. It was simply a pleasure. Would have given them 6 stars had it been an option!

After a fun, and exhilarating first day in Alberta, CA, we had a lovely, and oh so satisfying late dinner at Sage in Canmore. Hubby had a beautifully grilled portobello accompanied by a melange of delectable vegetables - carrots, green beans, bell peppers, asparagus, etc. along with some yummy garlicky mashed potatoes - while I had an impeccable risotto with a multitude of cherry tomatoes, spinach, peas, and asparagus. Our accompaniment was their selected white wine that started with a lively mineral taste and finished so mellow, along with a nice sliced baguette served with a lingberry/parsley

Amazing meal, with top notch service! During a weekend getaway, my husband and I came here for dinner. He had the pork tenderloin, and I had the trout. I was so impressed I jokingly asked our waiter for the recipe. He was gone for a bit while we finished our meal, and to my complete surprise came back with a fully detailed recipe! It was quite possibly one of my best dinner's out ever. Do not pass this restaurant by on your trip out to Canmore its like fine dining for Gods!!

Was Here with a group of colleagues for a special function.
Loved this setting from the top floor - It felt like a log cabin, with the Mountain View all around us.
The food itself is good, quality for a group setting. I ordered the schnitzel which was really good and fresh. I did not care for the dessert.
The staff were friendly and attentive.

We had those wonderful Lobster fritters and an awesome antipasto plater for two with salmon, duck, different cheeses and spreads. But the best of all was a s'mores chocolate tart. Very friendly and quick service. Wednesday is wine night, you get every bottle half prize! Highly recommend this place for a laid back evening!

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but the Beet and Tomato Salad was WILDLY disappointing. Came here for a casual light lunch on the patio. The rustic log cabin restaurant was lovely and mountain view was picturesque. The staff seemed nice enough although perhaps stretched thin (on a very hot day on a sunny patio my water glass was left empty for far too long before any sort of service). Anyway, I ordered the Tomato and Beet salad which looked perfect for a light meal on a hot day. But for $17 I didn't expect it to be THAT light. It was literally 3 leaves of butter lettuce with maybe 5

This was a very lacklustre meal. I like the restaurant with its log cabin construction and cozy tables. The layout is neat and the view of the mountains is pretty. They have a pretty good wine selection as well.
I had the "confit Cornish hen with red rice pilaf , savory sage-bourbon pan gravy, and market vegetables" and my dining companion had the pork chop. They warn you the pork chop will take about 20 minutes which is fine if you're there for a leisurely dinner which we were. But when it made its long awaited entrance it was tough and overlooked.
I asked the server for a recommendation

Big mistake coming here for dinner.
The only plus here was that the manager gave us our meals for free... which my wife didn't eat any of hers.
She had ordered a steak medium rare which came medium well. She had it sent back. Meanwhile, I am sitting there with my meal and my wife "watching" me eat... really poor service.
Finally her steak arrives but it looked like they had tried to assemble a steak out of two chunks of meat....? My wife asked the waiter about the meat. He proceeded to tell her that both steaks were done perfectly and that implied that she didn't know how

We just came in by chance and had a really nice evening.
Very good wine, perfect service and a good price-quality relation. It would have been 5 stars if the taste of the beetroot-risotto would have been about more spiced. It was a little boring. But definitely would go there again. The steak fires were perfect!

Let me first start with saying the atmosphere here is very nice and welcoming. Let me also say that the staff is friendly and does a good job of trying to make your experience enjoyable. Here's where they FAIL miserable, the food has ZERO FLAVOR! I ordered the French onion soup which was made with chicken broth, terrible. I also ordered the lamb burger and it was a frozen patty cooked on a George Forman grill, ZERO FLAVOR! I wanted to give this place a good review but there is no way in hell I would ever recommend this place to anyone ever even if my meal was free. Please save your money because

I really like Sage when I want to go out for a nice dinner. The quality of the service and the food is always high. They have a good wine list and a lovely view. It can be quite a mixed crowd here, which adds a nice ambiance. The night we went, there were Koreans, Aussies, Brits, Americans and Canadians.
They have a good selection of meats and sides, always with respect shown to the food. Cooked as it should be.
My only wish for Sage is that they would install air conditioning. On a hot and calm evening, the dining room is a bit uncomfortable.
