Weatherguard Exteriors provides a full slate of home and building exterior renovation services to the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. We service residential, strata, commercial, industrial and municipal properties alike. When recommending the right exterior system for our clients, we account for the unique climate considerations of each district as well as critical elements that support a building's foundation and surroundings.
Siding, also known as wall cladding, is an exterior material which is applied to the walls of a building as a primary means to protect the property from the damaging effects of weather and to provide insulation. Function aside, siding is also one of the first things an individual will notice about your residential or commercial building, making it a key element of aesthetic design.
A soffit is most commonly known to bridge the gap between your siding and roofline, but it can also be used under porches, arches, columns, and even an exterior flight of stairs. If it has a visible covering with exposed rafters or connectors a soffit comes into play.
It may seem like a small accessory, but without them in place your attic, loft, garret, or rafters receive poor ventilation and become susceptible to mold, rot, and pest infestation. You may need to decide between continuous soffit vents, vented soffit panels or a combination depending upon your project/property requirements.

A rainscreen panel system seals the area between your building's frame and its siding while allowing air to pass through. It provides a defense against the rainwater and condensation that can penetrate a building's outer cladding, along with the mold and rot that ensue.
Touted as the savior from the infamous leaky-condo phenomenon, the current BC Building Code now requires two layers of wall protection with an air cavity in between - enter the rainscreen.Simply put, your property is located in the wettest region of Canada. You need a rainscreen to abate the one thing that tries to keep Greater Vancouver being great for building exteriors.
