Fire protection can often be overlooked or simply forgotten about even though we are usually surrounded by it in some form like fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire sprinklers etc. We never sit back and wonder if it works, we just expect it to. The reason fire protection fails usually comes down to people: we damage the system (7%), the hazard classification is wrong (6%) and lack of maintenance (10%).
