Sword Antiques
The Sword Antiques is in its 15th Year of operation and evolving rapidly as the collectibles and antique furniture market undergoes a massive change. You have probably noted the decline in venues serving collectors as the Baby Boom Generation eases off buying for already complete collections. Many of their offspring have already assured their folks that their "dust collectors" are headed for the yard sale or the dump on a parent's demise.

Prices have plummeted on thousands of items as demand for them decreases and now only the most coveted or valuable collectibles continue in demand. We have shifted our focus into fields where we feel demand will continue and values increase. Young men of any age love toys, whether guns, bayonets, knives or other sharp objects dangerous to their wellbeing.
Services
Like any other items, guns in North America become antiques after 100 Years. Some antique guns continue to be considered needing supervision by legal authorities if modern ammunition can be used in them. These require that buyers qualify for a Possession Acquisition License (PAL) and be approved for gun ownership by local police authorities before they can purchase such firearms.
With today's spiralling prices for genuine antique firearms, the demand for accurate and well-made reproductions, items traditionally scorned by "real" collectors, has increased considerably. The number of authentic pieces are limited and many collectors are now willing to accept a well-made substitute.
The majority of our swords are reproductions with a few genuine weapons both ceremonial and otherwise and with us on occasion and usually for a very little time. Reproduction swords are often either copies of historical classics or flights of fancy from a smith's wild imagination. Real swords of good quality, good condition and properly priced vanish within hours, not days.
The Sword has always had a few of the above but lately we've become extremely involved with these historical artifacts, particularly those dating from the Second World War and after. At this time we have more than 100 hat badges of the Canadian Army and a number from our other military services and from the United Kingdom.
It's a pottery either much beloved or much maligned and, in many ways, a victim of our nation's "tall poppy syndrome." I think Pat and I were one of the few couples who married in Ontario in the mid 1960s not to receive a BMP piece as a wedding present. And there was just too much of it. And as any Canadian can tell you, if it's Canadian, it can't be much good.

Very interesting store, with unusual but y cool stuff in it. The people are very friendly and will have answers to your questions. But they don’t bother you while you browse.

Pretty weird, no one was in the shop, the lights were off expect for one light in a showcase at the cashier and no one appeared for the 20 minutes we were there. Aptly named shop as they had a good sword collection. Worth the stop but temper your expectations.

The man I assume is the owner Bob and myself chatted for maybe half an hour about history and his antiques. In the end found a really cool dagger and can answer any questions you have.
He has the best selection of muskets and weapons I've personally ever seen in a antique shop and is very fair priced. I highly recommend this store.
