Canadian Chimney
Canadian Chimney is a small family owned and operated chimney, and fireplace service company that specialises in chimney cleaning sweeps, chimney inspections, WETT Inspections, chimney repairs, masonry, roof leaks, fireplace and wood stove installations and we offer a selection of reputable fireplaces, wood burning stoves and chimney and venting products.

Ryan is a WETT Certified Comprehensive Inspector with advanced WETT certifications as a System Advisor, Technician, and Chimney Sweep. Ryan also serves as a Director on WETT Inc's National Board of Directors and is the Chair of WETT's Technical Advocacy Committee. Home to Ladysmith, BC and we service most areas in the Cowichan Valley, Nanaimo, Cedar and Yellow Point, and sometimes in and around Victoria, Parksville and Qualicum Beach.
Services
Our standard sweep service for solid fuel systems involves power sweeping stage 1, and stage 2 creosote deposits from the chimney, venting components, and firebox. During our standard sweeping service, our chimney Technician will conduct a very basic evaluation (not a WETT Inspection) of the system component conditions that are readily accessible, and observed during sweeping.
Creosote is formed from the distillation of tarry, carbon compounds and pyrolysis of organic - plant based materials (firewood). Soot and tar are other common names for creosote and some other "interesting" names include; "creo-soot", creosol, creolsol, black chimney dust. There are many types and ways creosote is formed including as a by-product of burning wood.
Lint accumulated in dryer vents is a common cause of household fires, and regularly servicing your dryer can help prevent this risk. Our Technicians conduct a thorough dryer vent cleaning service by cleaning the main dryer duct, connector and the dryer lint trap. We offer three dryer vent cleaning service packages, and custom dryer vent add on services which allows you to create a custom experience that will suite your specific needs and budget.
Limit the venting length by installing your dryer in an area that will allow for a reduced total vent length. Clean lint out of the vent pipe at least annually, or have a dryer lint removal service do it for you. Annual inspections - Gas dryers should be inspected by a professional to make sure that the gas line and connection are intact and free of leaks.
During a chimney inspection Ryan conducts observations to the solid fuel burning system and evaluates based on code compliance. During the chimney inspection, the readily accessbile system components will be looked at for how they are installed as well as their condition.

We generally book up to 1.5 hrs on site and what is looked at (room with appliance, roof, attic, other) will depend on the system, ease of access, roof conditions, safety and time.If you would like more time, please let us know at the time of booking so that we can ensure there is enough time scheduled to accomodate the service(s) you desire.

Wow, the best thing we did this summer was call Ryan at Canada chimney. It's January, the fires rocking out the heat. Inspection was a dream because of his fine attention to detail. And we are do toasty and comfy. Ryan and Canada chimney do very good work, I would recommend to anyone who loves the warmth of wood heat.

I called Canadian Chimney with little hope of finding a solution to my wood stove problems and was lucky enough to deal with Ryan. Fast and sensible service with a whole bunch of options. Very happy with the outcome.

Ryan came to my house and quickly came up with a solution for a headache of mine. He had a lot of information to give me about the repairs for my chimney and wood stove, I had a lot of questions for him and he had an answer for every one. He was able to make me feel comfortable before the work was done in what the scope is and how it should be dealt with, whether or not he did the work he still gave me the knowledge I needed to be able to take steps on the repair for my new home.
Thanks for your time Ryan it was great to meet with you.

We have just found a leak in our wood burning fireplace and called Canadian Chimney to see if we could have it repaired and to find out the extend of damage the water had caused up to that point. They told us they had two levels of inspections, one where they barely do anything and one where they do a thorough inspection for $300 and if we chose them for repairs and it if it costs more than $1200 they would give us 1/2 of the inspection cost back. We chose the thorough inspection.
The guy that showed up took some pictures with his phone, but half of his report stated he couldn't inspect areas
