So a friend and I are on a mission to try our city's offering of ethnic markets. Every week we select a few to visit and shop in. Our visit to the Russian Store his past Sunday did not disappoint! Tanya was a delight! Very helpful with how to tips to cook the offerings of the store. I bought the most flavourful Borscht I have ever had - I will definitely buy this delicious house made soup again! Now, I can't wait to try the little meat dumplings that are also made in house!

I went here for the first time last week and I was impressed. There was a great selection of products from Eastern Europe (cold cuts, candies, beverages, etc) The lady had made fresh shuba that day and I had to get some (if you haven’t tried it, it’s a layered dish made from cooked and grated potatoes and beets, layered over finely chopped salted herring and mayo - it is really tasty, a bit of an acquired taste). I also got some chunks of cold-smoked salmon (this was really good). To the people who say the staff aren’t friendly: not true at all. You need to understand that you’re entering

Good variety of products no question, but reading the other reviews here I guess you need to be a regular customer to get a smile or any friendliness whatsoever. Have been in a few times now and not once have I ever gotten a smile or acknowledgement. At checkout a curt “that’s it?” Too bad, it’s quite convenient to where I live but I’ll go to the one on Macleod trail where they also have a good variety of product and smiles are free 😉

I want to start by saying: I highly recommend their in-house, store made pelmenis!
My g.f was adopted from Russia when she was 10 and since I met her has always talked about foods she vaguely remembers. I googled this place after talking to a friend and bought her house made pelmenis, I made them as a surprise for my g.f, she cried, she was overjoyed to have a little piece of her culture back.
Since, I've had their poppy seed strudels, their house made "cheesescake buns" (vatrushka) and their house made cherry buns they were all incredibly fresh and soft and amazing with good tea or coffee!
