A master craftsman, educated in Germany, Alfons Laicher brings a wealth of expertise and experience to custom furniture artistry. Prior to coming to Canada, he spent three years in an apprentice program and several years working as a journeyman cabinet maker. After one year in trade school where he learned business and training practice, he went to work managing cabinet shops in Germany.
In 1998, he immigrated to Canada and worked in cabinet shops and on luxury yachts with custom boat builders. In 2005, he opened his own business, Alfons Custom Furniture and Woodwork. Today, he runs a thriving business building custom cabinetry and furniture. While cabinetry is the "bread and butter" of his business, Alfons' true passion is custom furniture design.

The ability to determine and maintain the style of an existing item, copying it so it fits perfectly. Our furniture can be based on many different styles such as: Baroque, Empire, Biedermeier, Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, and very contemporary styles. The finishes can include staining, lacquering, painting, waxing, and oiling.
Searching for a craftsman to build a furniture piece we eventually met Alfons through a friend. Contacting Alfons was the best decision we made. We described our vision for a wall unit to fill a blank wall in our living room. Alfons worked with us during the design phase and presented a number of drafts that addressed our requirements for the piece.
