Our team is passionate about creating mutually trusting, long-term relationships. Using a progressive approach, we will guide you in making informed choices to achieve optimal comfort, health, function and esthetics. Its no secret that the better something is maintained the longer it will last. This is the basis of preventive dentistry, the art of identifying and properly managing disease risk.
Andrew Puksa was born in Toronto, Ontario and moved to Ancaster, Ontario at a young age. After completing his Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree he graduated from the University of Toronto's Dentistry program amongst the top of his class. After graduating in 2008, Andrew moved to Thunder Bay seeking close proximity to one of his biggest passions, the outdoors.
Our new patient experience begins with a review of your health history, dental history, past experiences and your expectations. We complete an oral pathology screening and examine the health of your gums and surrounding soft tissues. We assess each individual tooth as well as record the condition of any existing fillings.
As with our adult new patient exams, child new patient exams are highly individualized. We take the first few minutes of the appointment to discuss any concerns a child or parent may have. It also allows us to enquire about what types of experiences a child has had in the past. After taking and discussing any diagnostic x-rays, we provide a full assessment for children.
We are extremely excited about the infant program within our office. The current recommendation for infants in Ontario is that they see a dentist by the time they get their first tooth or by the age of one. Our exam for infants is primarily an education session for parents. We take the opportunity to explain cavity risk and what factors influence it.

My older sister is a client of Dr. Florindo and when I had a very painful tooth, she was recommended to me. The staff were very friendly and understanding of my situation. I was booked for the Monday but I got a call back that there was an opening tomorrow, so I jumped on it. I was very nervous going in as I have alot of anxiety when I visit the dentist. All staff and Dr. Florindo took the time to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Florindo explained every part of the exam and what was needed to be done for my painful tooth. Dr. Florindo took the time to correct my bite, which made a world of difference

I was very pleased with my recent dental visit. The staff were kind, professional and were exceptional at making sure I was comfortable during my treatment. Protocols around COVID-19 were spot-on. I felt very comfortable at my appointment as there were screening questions at the time of my call and upon my arrival. The staff are doing everything possible to keep their patients and their staff safe. Overall a great appointment. Thank you!!

Dr. A. Puksa is the best dentist I’ve seen in my life. As a child, I did not have great experiences at the dentist. When my daughter was born she had tongue and lip tie. The lactation consultant recommended Thunder Bay Dental Center, and Dr. Puksa performed the procedure to fix my baby’s mouth issues. Since this establishment was accepting new patients, I decided that it’s about time to go to the dentist myself as it’s been, well, longer than I’d like to admit because of my childhood anxieties and experiences.
