Services
Providing Kindness, a High Level of Veterinary Care, and Dedication to the Pet Families of Edmonton. Blue Cross Animal Hospital is located near the heart of downtown Edmonton and has been providing care to the cat and dog companions of the region for more than 6 decades. We are a family-oriented, client-centered practice and believe in the positive role of client inclusion.
When you entrust your pet to Blue Cross Animal Hospital, you will not find the one-size-fits-all model of veterinary care. We believe in treating your pet as an individual, listening to your concerns and offering the specific veterinary services your pet requires. Our wellness care services factor in breed, age, and current health, as well as your preferences in care.
Through behavioral counselling, we will review the behaviors that have arisen, current health status, previous training and socialization, changes in the home, and other key factors. From this information, we can address your pet's specific behavioral issues and make recommendations. Some pets benefit from canine obedience and socialization classes, while others may require at-home behavior modification techniques.
Pet dental health is an important contributor to overall health. Yet, according to current statistics, an estimated 95% of pets will develop dental disease in their lifetimes. What's more, periodontal disease left untreated can create systemic infections and secondary diseases affecting the heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver.
Whether you have started to notice your pet scratching more or have found a hot spot or rash on the skin, dermatological conditions can make your cat or dog uncomfortable and can impact health. Skin conditions in pets are often caused by food, airborne, or contact allergies. These allergens create symptoms in pets that often manifest on the skin.

I am new to Edmonton. When I first brought my tiny Shih Poo puppy to them he was very shy and scared. It was especially tough oh my puppy and me as COVID was in full swing and I had to wait outside while my puppy got his first exam. The Doctor told me to bring him around about once a week before his next visit or he could end up with a life long fear of vet clinics.
I really appreciate how the staff would take time out at lunch to stop and socialise with my little puppy, and on the next visit for booster shots the Doctor commented that I had done a wonderful job socializing my puppy.

First time visit today and couldn't be happier. The veterinarian was very informative, compassionate and very thorough. Staff were excellent on the phones, professional, welcoming and definitely gave me a great impression of my first time visit with short notice as well. Thanks again guys. We shall be back ☺️

Dr. Littlejohn and team are amazing. Friendly, professional and treat our pups with such gentle care. Dr. Littlejohn explains every treatment in easy to understand language and genuinely cares for your pets like their one of his own. His technicians are equally considerate and our dogs have no issues or fear of the vet. I wouldn't take my four-legged family anywhere else!

This is the best vet in the city in my humble opinion.
He's very upfront about costs and will check with you before proceeding with any treatment. He is very gentle and calm with you and your animals. The rest of his staff are also great, very personable and friendly. The office is newly renovated and gorgeous. The waiting room and exam rooms are spacious and clean. My cat has been a patient here for about 5 years and I've never had a bad experience.

We went here for the first time today to have our elderly cat put down - the vet we had used previously could not get us in for two days. From the moment I phoned, I felt reassured that our cat would receive excellent professional care. The facility is immaculate and well-appointed, and the staff - from the receptionist to the veterinarian and their practicum student - couldn't have been kinder or more sensitive to our situation, explaining every step of the process and reassuring us that our pet would be comfortable. When we're ready to adopt another pet, we won't take them anywhere
