We signed with Newsam in February 2021 for a basement renovation that they said would be finished in 2-3 months. Here we are in November with a still unfinished job.
1) Cost:
The quote was for $74k. We added/removed a few things later and brought the total price to $69k. Towards the end of the project, without warning, Newsam asked us to pay $101k. Some examples of why the costs are higher:
ยท They stated that their quote was irrelevant in the end and it was just an estimate, and they bill time and materials. This was not stated at the beginning of the project and the contract is not clear on

We added a 600 sqr ft two storey addition to the back of our house. Ground floor was a den with polished cement floor, fireplace & wood ceilings. Upstairs was our master suite with washroom and closet. Designed by Carta Architecte who were amazing to work with https://cartaarchitecte.com/
We entrusted this design to Newsam to build.
1) Took 4x time to complete compared to quoted time. Quoted 3 months for a job that started June 2020. It took til mid-January 2021 for majority of work to get completed & full job was not completed til mid-July 2021.
2) Cost was 25% over quoted

My favourite local dog walking spot. Beautiful landscaping, big enough to find space from others if you want that. Something for everyone. Flat accessible routes around the grounds, more adventurous, hilly routes through woodland, bridle paths, lots of different pathways through the grounds. Beautiful lake, visitor farm, Go ape, historical house and cafe. The walled gardens are looking amazing at the minute. Only thing that spoils it are visitors leaving litter behind on busy days. There are several free car parks available, and one charging car park next to the House.

Newsam managed the renovation of two suites in my house in 2020. We completely redid the kitchens, bathrooms, floors, electrical, plumbing, many walls, painting. They started work about 5 or 6 weeks after I engaged them and their workers were all polite, consistent, hard working, and did a beautiful job. I dealt mostly with Paul Schapira, a partner at Newsam, and I would recommend working with him. He made time for me, was very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. He recommended some ideas to save on costs and suggested we do IKEA kitchens rather than custom cabinetry, which was a good
