Fresh Start Cleaning and Maintenance is dedicated to providing part-time to full-time permanent employment for consumer/survivors of the mental health system. Fresh Start strives to create an equitable and supportive environment for its staff through employment opportunities, increased health benefits from gainful employment, as well as offers a strong sense of community for staff to belong to.

Fresh Start is fully insured with Marsh Canada, Intact Insurance and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board covering any injury, theft or damage to property that may occur as the result of direct or indirect action(s) of any employee carrying on the work or services of Fresh Start.

Fresh Start is comprised of eight board members of which three (3) are employee members of the Corporation who are not administrative employees (TCLHIN funded employees) of the Corporation. The remaining five (5) board members are from the general community and two (2) of which must be consumer/survivors of the mental health system according to the bylaws of the Corporation.
Along with psychiatric disorders and illness oftentimes comes social anxiety and isolation making it increasingly difficult for afflicted persons to work, socialize, and/or cope with day to day life. For those at the stage in their recovery where they are capable of working, residual difficulties to intermingle with others often comes into play.
