Dr. Lederer began her professional life as a Registered Nurse. A Kitchener native, she graduated first from Conestoga College's Diploma Nursing Program, then from The University of Western Ontario with a BScN degree. With a passion for hands-on patient care and health promotion, she continued her education at The University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Dentisty, graduating with distinction in 1991.
Gum disease doesn't happen overnight. It is a slow and progressive infection which can lead to many problems including tooth loss. Some people are at a higher risk for developing gum disease than others. In its early stages, gum disease may have no symptoms, which is why regular dental check ups, cleanings and gum disease assessments are so vital.
Your oral health and your smile can be improved with mercury-free materials that provide you with a natural look. Mercury-free options are available for many restorative treatments including fillings and crowns. If you require more involved treatments, Dr. Lederer can create a customized treatment plan for you.
Dr. Lederer may recommend extraction if a tooth has a hopeless prognosis. For example, in advanced gum disease, there may simply not be enough healthy bone to anchor a tooth. If a root canal treatment is not possible due to a root fracture or severely calcified root canal, or if a tooth is so badly broken down that a filling is no longer possible, it will have to be extracted in order to relieve pain and infection.

Normally I am terrified of dentists. Dr. Lederer changed that for me. She is the kindest and most gentle soul. She doesn’t push things on you and gives very informed and knowledgeable advice. I briefly left her when we moved to Barrie. Now I just drive to Newmarket again for my appointments and I feel blessed she’s at the other end. Her staff are super efficient and friendly as well. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you Dr. Lederer for everything. You are one in a million!

100% the best dentist I’ve been to. Always keeps me fully apprised of what’s going on and talks me through the procedure. Very good if you’re nervous at the dentist. Also, have had two fillings with Dr. Lederer and literally didn’t feel a thing. Would recommend her to anyone looking for a dentist in the area. Staff is also great! Friendly, helpful, and always making things easy for the patient.

Went to get a assessment regarding some cavities and a cleaning. Never had a more positive experience with any sort of dental practice. Samantha, my hygienist was kind, professional, and never caused me any pain even though I have numerous sensitivities around previous fillings. The dentist that saw me, Dr. Karen, was very comforting and reassuring in her plan of treatment. If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

We have been going to Karen for a few years now and she is the very best dentist I have ever had. What I love about her is that she was a nurse before she became a dentist. Like a lot of people I have had some unsettling experiences with the dentist. She quietly narrates what she is doing before and while she is doing any procedure which really keeps me calm. She consults me on everything, is very personable and kind. My kids love her too.

Dr. Lederer and her team are the best in Newmarket! It has been more than 6 years that she is our family dentist. When I moved to Florida June last year I was very sad as I had to find a new dentist to keep my family smiling as we were used to. I was not lucky and unfortunately had a bad experience in Florida. When I went back to Canada for a quick visit 2 weeks ago I decided to stop by and check Dr. Lederer new location. I was impressed with the premises and the new technology she uses in her clinic.Everything is awesome and modern. It was Easter weekend and their schedule was completely full

Highly recommend Karen and her team at YES Dental, not only do I attend but I take my 90 year old mother there and the care and compassion they show is second to none. They are fair and give lots of options for treatment. Detailed descriptions and pro's and cons of the different options available are explained in detail and patiently. I am not a fan of dentist, but the bright cheery atmosphere and wonderful team make the visits much easier.

My 4 year old daughter was NOT going to a dentist. I explained to Dr. Karen her apprehension before our appointment and told her not to be offended if we have to leave before the appointment was complete. To my complete surprise, Dr Karen Lederer was able to finish checking her teeth and polish them with no issues. Her gentle way and calm demeanor was what did it! Thank You!
