Barrington Hotel
Ideally situated in the centre of downtown Halifax and the historic waterfront, the hotel is a reconstruction of six originals buildings built in the mid-19th century in the Italianate style. The west faade of the building was meticulously dismantled, piece by piece, and workers numbered and catalogued for reassembly each of the 4,000 stone blocks.

The event space continues the historic theme of the hotel, individually being named after prominent businessmen on Granville Street during the latter part of the 19th century. The Barrington Hotel is part of Barrington Place and connects with Scotia Square, CIBC Tower, Purdy's Wharf and Casino Nova Scotia by the downtown pedway link.

I travel alot and this was probably the worse hotel I've ever stayed at, from the room being dirty, to finding out food around the room the front desk service was awful, I couldn't reach anyone that morning at all over the phone. Worse place ever!

The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Easy check in and out (there is Express checkout to drop the cards in a box), gym and pool are available. Bed was comfortable and room was a good size, would only note the room looked dated. Parking available in the Scotia centre across the street (connected via indoor Link). Good price and convenient overall!

This hotel is all about location. Easy access to the waterfront boardwalk. Walking distance to all the Halifax attractions like the Pier 21, maritime museum and the citadel. Hotel is connected with a covered bridge to the Scotia Center across the street which has a large food court and shopping center and direct access to the parking garage. rooms were well appointed and comfortable though the bathrooms were a bit dated. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. there was a reasonable gym. Barrington street is like Toronto's front street. Hence all good restaurants and other entertainment is within

I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We booked for a week as we are in the middle of a move and our new home is not yet ready for us so this was already stressful but when we arrived, the front-desk person was very rude. We had booked online under my name and my husband’s card and because he was at work, while my daughter and I were planning on setting our stuff up in the hotel without him, the person at the desk seemed to be implying that I’d possibly stolen his card and was very difficult, not wanting to let us into our room since he was not with us until the evening.
Then we were

Great location. We enjoyed walking everywhere. Just parked the car.
Rooms were very nice and clean.
Front desk people were great.
We said we'd be happy to stay there again.

Do not stay here. I checked into the room this evening, quickly see how run down and uncleanly the condition was. I go downstairs and ask about being switched, was dismissed by maybe the manager (short hair, white blazer) who did not care at all to try to problem solve the situation. They were incredibly curt and defensive that I would be unhappy to stay the night in the condition it was in. To be honest, I could not bring myself to sleep there, so I checked out without staying and drove home. It was that bad. Stained carpets, damp room, mine didn’t have AC just maybe a 1970s thermostat, dirty

The location is very convenient and you can walk to the waterfront without ever going outside. You can also walk almost anywhere from here.
Check in and out was quick and easy. The lady I dealt with was polite and friendly.
The rooms are a bit dated and old looking, but for the price I paid, it can’t be beat. The rooms were clean, well air conditioned and pretty quiet.
There is a pool and a half decent gym available for use.
Check out websites such as Expedia as I was able to get a much better rate there compared to the posted rate on the hotel website

The rooms were clean and the staff were kind. My only complaint is the pool! The area wasn't clean either time we went down despite nobody being there, and the water was far too cold to handle! I definitely do not believe that it's heated, and a few other guests shared the same feeling while we were on the pool deck.

This hotel is in the middle of the city, and easy to walk to from anywhere you want to go, near the waterfront and close enough to the nightlife that you can always find something to do. We really like our room although the first one we were put in had cat hair all over the couch in the room, a bad smell when we first walked in and the bed looked a little unmade.
As soon as we complained they switched us rooms, apologized and have since made up for that blip. We ordered more towels and they brought extra and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The bed is big and soft, very comfortable

Location can’t be beat, you are right at the edge of downtown and the north end of town. Walking distance to just about anything you could want.
It’s an older hotel now, more of a “glory-days of business behind it” kind of now. But if you can get a good price on a room it is excellently situated.
Our room AC was a little noisy and everything is a bit dated, but comfortable and clean for sure. Good stay.
