Services
Chef Jan started in the industry as a professional caterer, working under Chef Donald Gyurkovits at "The Butler Did It Catering" back in 2006. Jan then moved on to launch her own "Jan's Gourmet" catering business, which expanded quickly, eventually prompting her to look for her own commercial kitchen to work from.

Well it’s Christmas Eve and Jan is going out of her way to get meals out to people, even though she is short staffed. The food here is amazing and the staff is wonderful, some of the sweetest girls in town. Definitely some of the most thoughtful food you can get on the beach. To the rude lady that came in here and yelled at everybody on Christmas Eve, because you messed up. I sincerely hope you stub your toe at 3am trying to find your way to the bathroom. Jan and her staff need to be recognized as local hero’s!

Travelling with my 85 yr old mom and we forgot out covid proof back at my daughters place. Takeout and a seat across the street at the beach was our option. Enjoyed a piping hot bowl of seafood chowder. The fries are lovely and crispy too. Perfect lunch was delivered to us at the park by the wonderful server. Definetly recommended this place

This is the best chowder and it is gluten free! They also have amazing, crispy fish and chips. Which can also be gluten free and was the best gf fish! The service was absolutely perfect and in our opinion this is the place to eat in White Rock.

My husband and I had a kid-free evening, and were looking for a heated patio spot for dinner. We don't go to restaurants since Covid, so we decided to walk up and down the main strip in White Rock to see which option looked the safest. A few of the patios were packed, with no spacing between tables...so when we found Jan's we knew it was a perfect option. It was a rainy evening, but the covered & heated patio was very comfortable. The tables were well spaced apart, instead of just relying on small plexi partitions.

Once we looked at the menu, my husband was thrilled because he&apos

We had an amazing dinner here. The fish and chips here are gluten free which was why we decided to come and it was amazing! Really thankful for all the gluten free options here, definitely can't wait to come back again.

Couldn't have asked for a better meal to end off 2020! The staff at Jan's was simply amazing! Easy going, non-stop and super friendly. Great customer service and I love that their meals are enjoyed by those with and without celiac. As the spouse of someone who has celiac, being the advocate can be tiring. But all I had to do was enjoy my meal with my husband and let the staff take care of the rest. We even took some extra dessert home! 🍰😁

We came here for Dinner. They have a great view for sure. It was a just ok experience for us... We got the crab dip. They served it with stale crackers. The dip was great but it did not taste like crab to us. As for wines they have a very limited selection. They have a full bar with beers as well. Small place with patio seating and a small couch area outside for drinks. He also ordered the seafood fettuccine. This was just ok. The shrimp and scallops had been over cooked but the pasta and sauce tasted great. The server was so friendly and we had great service. Not to many people eating put on a

A group of us traveled to Canada to spend the day in White Rock. We chose Jan's for breakfast.

Paid parking can be found in the public parking area. Discover isn't really a credit card accepted in Canada. Most businesses hadn't ever heard of Discover. Visa and MasterCard are accepted forms of payment.

Jan's has a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy on nice days. During our visit, it rained all day so we opted to sit indoors. Indoors is small and doesn't really accommodate large parties. Our party of 6 was tight seating.

Jan's offers a full bar, wine and a couple

Stopped in for seafood a couple weekends ago. It’s a great area right on the beachfront with comfortable outdoor seating.
The food was fine but definitely was not fresh seafood. Got the Cioppino Seafood Bowl and the Fish Tacos.

I don't know what it is about my family and I. Is it because we're Asian that people don't like serving us? We're normally very nice people and tip nicely!

Heres our experience: me, my mom, and my two sisters came here on May 19 for brunch. Our server Laura did not grab us waters (which normally people do right away) until after we ordered food and had to ask HER instead for some waters. It took a while for the food to come out, I'm gonna say 30 minutes or more. The entire time Laura did not check in on us but seemed totally okay talking to the other (Caucasian) customers

Jan's is a very small restaurant so reservations are recommended. We were there for dinner last evening and even on a cool Friday evening at the end of March they were very busy. The room is very cozy and even although we sat in front of the bar we had a nice water view. The seats are arranged in such a fashion that you can have a nice conversation with your companions as the tables are nicely spaced apart. Our server - Laura was very efficient and very patiently explained different menu items to us. As well as their regular menu they had a list of 3 house specials and they also gave

Came here for Brunch on a Saturday and it was yummy. We were seated right away and the food came in good time. The dish itself was really flavourful and left me very content. I felt like the food was well worth the price! The staff were very welcoming and the location is great. I would definitely come back again, would be great to be able to sit on the terrace when the weather is warmer!

Ps I got the smoked salmon hash and my friend got the seafood crepes

Jan's is a great seafood restaurant in a premium part of White Rock, right in front of the water with a great view. I went here for the first time last week, and was hopeful that the service and food would live up to the expectations. I was delighted to find out that the restaurant is tremendous, but annoyed that it took me this long to find out about it. The salmon was cooked to perfection and nobody has fries which come close in quality (seriously, you need to try them).

I read on here that some people had poor experiences with their service, but that wasn't the case for me - I guess

This was our second time to eat at Jan's. I had a small clam chowder and the two piece fish and chips. Hubs had the prosciutto wrapped scallops and the two piece fish and chips. I also had a classic Caesar, which was very good. The chowder was nice, with plenty of clams and some veggies, but not full of potatoes. The scallops were also very good. Hubs really likes the sauces they come in. Our fish was crispy on the outside and flaky inside. The fries are awesome, but then I really like potatoes! Hubs finished his meal with just one scallop left. I brought home chowder, a piece of fish, and most

What a discovery! Top flavors in White Rock! Waitress was engaging, prompt and helpful. Appetizers ( calamari ) served to perfection, and the rack of lamb OMG. The vegetables complemented the lamb like a symphony. Relaxing lighting, reasonable price for the quality porvided.

Oh and the cheesecake! Lighter than most cheesecakes and tasty. Strongly recommended

It's definitely a nice looking place in a good location on the waterfront, and not too hard to get a seat at for an early brunch, but that's about it.

Servers/hostess that passed by did not acknowledge us as we waited outside so we had to walk ourselves inside to be noticed (not looking to be seated right away, but a 'hi' or 'just a moment' would be nice). That was acceptable, I guess, since it was busy when we arrived. Our orders were taken and my warm water arrived very quickly but my partners regular, cold tap water took much longer. Kinda weird. We went Jan's On The Beach for brunch because of the good reviews it has on Yelp but turned out the most disappointing dinning experience ever.

We ordered
- Mimosa
- Caesar
- Coffee
- Traditional Breakfast
- Salmon Egg Benedict
- Roasted Brussels Sprouts
- Deep Fired Calamari
- Smoked Salmon Hash

Mimosa was good and coffee is not bad too. We ordered regular brunch and nothing was fancy but it took them 40 minutes to bring the food on our table. Toast in transitional breakfast looked pitiful. It was like been there for a few days. According to my friend, calamari was over cooked and it

We tried this place coz of the good reviews this restaurant have. When we got in, it took a good 10 mins before someone took our drink and food orders. Then it took at least 40 mins to have our food on our table. We simply ordered traditional breakfast, eggs Benedict, calamari , brussel sprouts.
You know it is bad when a food court Opa calamari is better than what I had here. The calamari was not seasoned and it is super tough (overcooked). My jaw really hurts after eating.
Looking atound, we can see how frustrated the other customers are with the service and food.
I will not recommend
