Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is performed by imparting sound waves into a component and interpreting the returned signals. Our ultrasonic testing technicians can help you with: Thickness Testing, Corrosion Mapping, Lamination Scans in rolled plates, Straight Beam inspection of castings and forgings, Angle Beam/Shear Wave weld inspection, and inspection of tubes using an Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS) Inspections.
Positive Material Identification (PMI) is a nondestructive method used to identify metal alloys based on their chemical composition. If a material certificate is missing or if there is a suspicion about material composition, the use of PMI offers a solution. Ferrous and non-ferrous metallic materials, stainless steels, Monels, Inconels, Hastelloys, Aluminum alloys, nickel-based alloys, and other exotic material.
Hardness Testing is performed in the field with a small hand-held device and is used to gauge the strength of the metal. This is useful when determining the correct welding electrode to use during structural repair. A bubble solution is first applied to a clean, bare weld surface. The vacuum box is then placed over the joint and the compressor turned on until the gauge indicates a vacuum.
