Massage therapy and yoga have been found to improve circulation, joint range-of-motion and flexibility, and lessen or eliminate pain. They can reduce many common ailments such as stress, muscle tightness, aches and pains - even the physical symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Each treatment is focused on your own personal goal - whether that be relaxation, injury rehabilitation/ prevention, or overall health & well-being. At Balance, we take a holistic point of view on restoring health & wellness - which is why we're so excited to offer individualized yoga classes for students of all levels, with guaranteed small class sizes and teachers with a varied enough background to ensure you never get a cookie-cutter class.
Services
Vanessa graduated from the International Academy of Massage in 2012. She has a vast experience of treating patients with sports injuries, postural imbalances and chronic pain. Previously, Vanessa worked at a multidisciplinary clinic alongside Chiropractors & Physiotherapists, which has given her the experience in treating children, adults, the elderly - and even babies!
Balance Massage Therapy is proud to have highly trained Registered Massage Therapists (RMT's) working with us. Each RMT has received intensive training in Swedish massage, a term that encompasses Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Sports, Relaxation, Prenatal, and many other types of massage, as well as some specialized techniques, such as Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Cranial Mobilizations, and Ultrasound.
Some techniques are applied for treating specific conditions - for example, scar tissue build-up, TMJ (jaw) dysfunction, tendinitis, inflammation/ issues with lymph drainage or poor circulation. Our RMT's have also received training in specialized techniques, such as Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Technique, Cranial Mobilizations, and Ultrasound.
These are all excellent options for continuing your self-care at home and in between massage therapy treatments. Each one of these products has been tried and tested by at least one of our RMT's - so you'll know that if we recommend something, it's not only from personal experience, but you can be guaranteed that we believe in it!
While our clinic has started a gradual reopening for massage therapy appointments, we are not yet resuming Yoga/Pilates classes. We love our cozy & intimate yoga space & all that our environment has to offer, but the smaller size does make social distancing measures extremely challenging, if not impossible, to maintain.

Best clinic for a pregnancy massage! I visited RMT Vanessa McBain in my 7th month of pregnancy to alleviate some of the sciatic nerve pain I was experiencing. What I loved especially was the massage table. They have the pregnancy cushion that supports your belly so you can actually lie the way you’re supposed to during a massage. I could have stayed there all day! I 💯 recommend doing the same if you’re pregnant. My only regret is not living closer to frequent the clinic more often.

I've been getting massage therapy here for several years and was always happy. Recently though, it seems that the centre is focusing more on yoga than massage. There are only 2 RMTs who only have appointments on Mondays and Thursdays and nothing available in the evenings. Last year I would've given them 5 stars but with the lack of appointment options and a few other recent issues, it's only 2 stars.

It’s was a wonderful experience of light touch therapy, meditation & yoga. Having fibromyalgia myself makes it pain to do just about everything but Jessica & Tracy made my first yoga experience calming & almost pain free. Thank you so much and I can’t wait for the next session

Excellent service. Professionnel, clean, and amazing massage. All three therapists get to my sore points and work them out. They are also quiet and don't talk during the massage, which is much appreciated.

Fantastic service. Came here looking for relief for pregnancy-related pelvic pain, and it has been so helpful. The atmosphere is very calming and spa-like, and the therapy has really reduced my pain, which has improved my work life and general mobility. I've seen Vanessa both times, and she's been so professional and welcoming, and has also given me great advice on home care; she even took extra time after my appt to guide me through some stretches I could do at home. Wish service was this good everywhere!

Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I always feel so much better after a yoga class at Balance! Theresa and Jessica each have different styles, so I recommend you try one class with each of them to decide which you prefer. Classes are available at different times weekday evenings and weekends. The studio is comfortable and has a flexible setup with space for about 8 students, but classes are often much smaller and the instructors are happy to modify the program to suit the interests or abilities of the people there that particular day.
