The Manitoba Association of Optometrists (MAO) is the regulatory and licensing body for the practice of optometry in Manitoba. We are responsible for enforcement of the provisions of The Optometry Act and Regulation. Every optometrist who works in Manitoba must be registered with MAO. We are also the professional association for Manitoba optometrists.

Association members and optometric students may post ads free of charge. To submit an ad, email mao@mb-opto.ca. The Manitoba Association of Optometrists (MAO) is the regulatory and licensing body for the practice of Optometry in Manitoba. We are responsible for enforcement of the provisions of The Optometry Act and Regulation. Every optometrist who practises in Manitoba must be registered with MAO. Every optometrist currently licensed to practise optometry in the Province of Manitoba is included on the Manitoba Association of Optometrists Register.
Membership in the Manitoba Association of Optometrists (MAO) is mandatory in order to practise optometry in Manitoba. Optometric students completing an externship in Manitoba must also register with MAO prior to beginning their externship. All optometrists currently licensed to practise optometry in the Province of Manitoba are listed on the Optometry Register.
Optometrists trained outside of North America or with academic training unaccredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) must complete credential assessment through the Federation of Optometric Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FORAC). Credential assessment will determine the applicant's eligibility to challenge the Internationally Graduated Optometrist Evaluating Examination (IGOEE).
