We are conveniently located at 3210 Portage Ave and serve Westwood, St. James, Winnipeg and Manitoba. If you are new to our optometry clinic, we understand you may be curious about our services and experience.
Optometric Services Inc. (OSI) - Canada's Largest Network of Optometrists gathers more than 1,500 Optometrists in approximately 750 clinics across Canada. Manitoba Association of Optometrists (MAO) - is the regulatory and licensing body for the practice of optometry in Manitoba. As skilled and experienced as our eye doctors in Winnipeg are at treating a wide range of eye diseases and disorders, those problems must be detected before they can be treated. Comprehensive eye exams make that all-important detection possible. In addition to eye exams and vision testing, our team of optometry professionals provide testing for glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.
The first eye exam should occur by Age 3 and much sooner in cases of observed turned eye, premature birth, low birth weights and congenital eye defects. It is very important that visual problems such as "lazy" eye and turned eye be detected and treated early as the window of time to treat such problems is limited.

I can’t believe anyone would give this place any less than 5 starts. If I could give more I would. It was my first time at the optometrist for my 5 year old son, and it was the BEST experience ever. Doctor Singh gave my son his eye exam and made him feel so comfortable. He was so friendly and did such an amazing job . When it was time to pick out glasses for him, the front desk girl Breanne was the most helpful person ever. EXCELLENT SERVICE IN THESE TURBULENT TIMES. The government has asked and advertised that we should all be afraid of each other and its a bit obvious here that the scientists that work here believe it all. But with some intelligent discussions we got through it all and even got to giggling and spending money on great new lenses and service. I hope ppl can take a look around and see we are all not dying from each others uncovered faces presence. But again compromise was all I needed and it was available as they and I kept the world safe from covid destruction. My new lenses and prescription are great

I went to Westwood Optical on January 8/2021 to have my eye examination done. I was told that it would take two weeks to have the new lenses put into my own frames. Well it took three weeks for me to get them back. When I got home and tried to read and do computer work with them everything was blurry, so I called them back right away and they booked me another appointment for Tuesday February 23/2021.This is now 46 days since I originally went there. I take my glasses in and seen the optometrist again and told her my problem she tells me I did not tell them correctly what I wanted my glasses for

Saw Dr. Singh. Husband asked for contacts as that is what he wears. Was ignored and given a eye glass prescription instead. We called and was told we have to pay another $139 if he wants a contact lens prescription. Told my 21 year old son he had glaucoma but could not perform the test properly and ended up paying extra. We saw a different optometrist. Both prescriptions were misdiagnosed. Never again!

I'm so impressed with the treatment my kids and I received here. The staff was so pleasant, Dr. Sodhi was amazing with my two toddlers. My son was so nervous at first and she calmed him right down, he absolutely loved being there after a few minutes with her. Will definitely be making her our permanent optometrist. This was our first visit to Westwood Optical. Once we entered the building everything was great! Great staff, great doctors all around EXCEPT for the individual answering the phone and the individual who is responsible for people entering the facility during COVID. She was very rude and condescending. Therefore, unfortunately this will be our first and last time we will be using the services of Westwood Optical!

I've had only excellent experiences at this clinic. The reception staff was very kind. COVID protocols were being well adhered to. Dr Christine Johnson is so friendly and efficient, and explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. I had a very pleasant appointment. I appreciated that she showed me, using the lenses, where my current prescription was at, and what my new prescription would be - I haven't had an optometrist do this, and it was very helpful to see the difference my new prescription would make before my glasses are ready.

Not sure who the rude employee was that informed me that I “Had” to move so she could get in, however maybe an excuse me please would have worked better. The other employee conveniently didn’t know who she was and none of the owners were in today. Riiiiiiight... All this topped of by glasses that were not the correct prescription. A really bad experience!

While I have loved my optometrist for years, I am extremely concerned with the office policy to contact patients with notices to book their appt (You're due back!) prematurely! Today, I paid $139 for a visit which I would've happily waited 2 weeks for (when my 24 month insurance cycle would've covered this). Beware of this practice - it is unethical and was not corrected when I raised my concern with staff. So disappointing!

My mom and sister had complaints about the unprofessional service. I reserved judgement till I had the same. My experience was, as well, not very professional. I can relate 2 events that disappointed me. When I visit an optometrist, I do not expect my appointment to entail a sales pitch about the optical center or to hear that the glasses I had were sub-standard (because they were not purchased on site). On another occasion, after discussion with the desk personnel I asked to book an appointment 2 years from my last appointment. As it turns out, the date of the appointment I attended was

I'm HONORED to be one of the first to write a review on my experiences with the company and staff of Westwood Optical.. I know there will be many additional reviews to come.. so here goes!
If you want to have a very pleasant and knowledgeable experience with people that take their profession seriously; and a company that has a great name recognition in the industry AND the city of Winnipeg... then you have to select Westwood Optical.
There are other great options as well in the city... however, one of the "stand-outs" for me personally is that when I experienced some vision issues
